The House has recently approved a $1-per-pack cigarette tax increase effective Sep 1! I was already paying $3.56 a day can you imagine having to spend $4.56?! :gasp: Texas taxes on cigarettes: $1.41 New Mexico tax: 91 cents per pack Arkansas tax: 59 cents. Oklahoma's tax: $1.03 Governor Perry said, "If the choice is between taxing property or taxing poison, then I say let's tax cigarettes." T. Here in NYC cigs are $8.00 to $8.50 a pack! The city is giving away free patches to residents (they just sent an entire month's supply which is helping me alot). It sure feels great not to pay so much money to feed my habit. The city of New York funds the "free patch" program. You just call 311 from your phone and they send a box to you.

Wow, that is crazy! I feel bad for those who still smoke. Looks like a lot more people will be considering it! I remember when they were $1-ish a pack! Hi Everybody. Up here in Nova Scotia, we pay approximately $8.75 for a "cheapy" pack. The so called "full service" packs can run up over $10.00!!! No wonder I have saved so much money. Oh the insanity of this addiction!! Scrounging money for a pack, digging into the kids piggy banks the day before payday, ugh, I sure don't miss doing that! We are all so much smarter and richer now don't ya know!! Some taxes are good, but taxes on nic are great. Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Wow! After reading your post, I went searching for the tax rates on cigarettes by state. Good ole Rhode Islands is no. 1 at $2.46 per pack. My native NC is number 45 at $.30 per pack no surprise there. The lowest were South Carolina (.07) and Missouri (.17). Sure glad we don't smoke! :) Not cravin', never cavin'.
