Day 3...

The last time my wife and I both quit at the same time it was a nightmare. We were both very moody and ended up having a big fight. Needless to say we both started smoking again. This time I quit smoking and she is still smoking. Once I'm well down the road it will be her turn. Maybe once you make it this though time you can convince your husband to quit also. But for now stay strong and don't give into the temptation. My wife smokes in the garage and as long as I stay away from her while she is smoking I'm fine. You are doing great. Stay strong. You CAN and will make it through this day. Believe in yourself. Believe in your quit. ENJOY your quit. Congratulations. Reward yourself tonight too with something good! I rewarded myself at my first tough spot by going to one of those upscale ice-cream places where they mix it all up on a big cold slab for you! Hi Nascar, how are you? I am hangin on too, incase the crave hit. It hit me hard last night, and i could feel my will power going going goin... gone. So i whip out the 'delay' and 'distract' tool. It was really tough to keep my cool. But when i woke up this morning knowing that i have won the battle last night, it feels really great. All the best, Na My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 111 Amount Saved: $18 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 52 Seconds: 31

This is when I relapsed last quit but I feel very confident in my determination to get through it! Its a bit harder on Weekends (he works every other) and Wednesdays because my hubby usually works the 4-midnight shift so he isn't there smoking. I told him he must smoke out back because last time I slipped he was smokin on the porch right where I could see him and smell the smoke. I know that is a bad excuse but for now I need to be away from the smoke. I know I will handle it better later in my quit! Wish me luck and will-power for this evening! I WILL do it!!! Hi NascarFan - My husband smokes as well. There are a many of us around here who's spouse is still smoking. I have gotten my husband to go out in the front yard (well, almost in the street) because I didn't want the stench to come into the house from the front or back porch. He has been very supportive and has done that - but I have to say he smells so bad when he comes in I can't hardly stand to be around him. I have asked him to limit his smoking once he gets home and to please not have one right before we go to bed - that battle we are still working on. His addiction to nicotine is very strong. It makes me so sad to think that I will go on in this life and the truth is He might not. You are a strong woman (all of us NascarGirls are) and I know that you can own this quit. NCF, Congrats on your 2 Days! I'm looking forward to saying congrats on 2 WEEKS. First, you've already recognized one of your big triggers which is GREAT. Now you'll have to pull out all the stops to get through it. Jump in the shower, eat a few dozen licorice strips, go for a drive, glue yourself to the SSC, go to bed. Your sense of smell should be getting better today and over the next few days - wait until you smell him AFTER he smokes. It is gross! Everytime you get through one of these big temptations it will strengthen your resolve and give you a LOT of positive reinforcement. Let's get through this one too, eah?
