Im so sorry to hear of your loss... one of my favorite sayings is "dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened" Think of the good times and smile.. Im sure he's smiling down on you and he's proud of you and your 20 days quit. Smoking wont make you feel any better so keep that quit.

I learned yesterday that a good friend of mine from my high school years died in a car accident Friday night. He was only 31 years old.
Although I haven't seen him in 13 years, I am very sad since we where very close friends back then. He and I used to play guitar together and wanted to start a band. Although the band never got started, we still had a very close bond since we learned to play the guitar together.
I wish there where a way I could see him again, but I know it will never be.
The temptation to smoke has been very strong since I learned this tragic news, but I have stayed strong and have not given in.
Please if you feel the need say a prayer for my lost friend and his family.

Thank you everybody for your words and thoughts.
I am proud to say that I did not smoke :)
I am still mourning his death, and a little angry with myself for not keeping in touch, but it is getting a little easier and I am not wanting to smoke because of it anymore.
I love you guys for caring so much for me and helping me keep my quit! :)

Shawnx,
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. This is definitly a difficult time to be in the midst of the quit as well. But just remember that smoking won't make you feel better. Instead of smoking, pay tribute to your friend in some way-write a song, pick up your guitar and play, smile about old memories, anything...
i pray for you and your friend's family.
God Bless,
Linds

I wish you strength during this time of bereavement. It's tough to endure the death of anyone we were close to at any time. Life offers so many difficult challenges, as you know over the last 20 days of your quit. Hold on to the success you have, stay strong and know that your friend would be proud of you, as you are proud to have been his friend. People who are no longer with us know we're thinking about them. That's how we keep their memory alive. Blessings to you

Hi ShawnX -
Sorry I am coming in late here, just found this post.
Be kind and gentle w/yourself, your friend would not want you to beat up on yourself... Give yourself the same big hug your friend would give you about right now...
Blessings and prayers-

ShawnX,
Thank you for posting about your friend, for some reason talking about it will help you. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and his family.
Rylan, had some good ideas about playing your guitar and just remembering the good times. I know there was many good times so think upon these things. Just remember one thing, nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing is so gentle as real strength. I pray that God will give you this gentle strength..
Be blessed,
SUNSHINE

Sorry to hear of your lose.
Stay strong, know that smoking will not change any of what you feel. If you should smoke there will be the mask of the drugs in the smoke and most likely your own anger at yourself in addition to everything that you feel now.
Please know that you are strong and that you can choose, rather than letting the addict choose for you.
Glad you posted and let us know all that is going on with you.
Phillip
