Way to go penquin, your self determination is Awesome. And you are staying focused and in control. Thats 3 more points for you Your guardian Angel is watching out for you Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with anoccasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Riverdaleman.. Could you please do me a favor?????? I'm heading out of town now for graduation and Penquin said she needs to be accountable to someone. I won't be around this evening so around 5 or 6 EST would please look for her and see how she is doing. She really needs our help to pull her through and I know you care and have the right words to share. I appreciate it! Penquin.... You are in good hands. Don't forget, Scream at the Junkie! I am proud of you. Scream outloud all the way past that store. Look in the mirror and tell yourself, "I am not going to stop now". Keep that determination. It is what gets you through. Hell week is over.. On to Heck week! Bring it on. Remember Penquin... Everyday is one day closer to never feeling this way again... AND When I smoked, I wanted a cigarette all the time. Now that I don't, I only want one some of the time. Hang on tight. You've got a ways to go but you are getting there one step at a time just like you are supose to. What is your reward for making it through Hell week???? You definately deserve one! Judy you are doing great and I am so proud of you. My heart sank as you told the part about the refridgerator. I was one of those 15 year olds too. It really is sad. I also have two parents that I do not believe will ever quit. They were talking the other day and laughing at the fact that they can't lay down for very long because they wake up coughing and how awful it is getting old. Unfortunately, I don't think either of them will ever see old. That is just another example of how horrible this addiction is. Refuse to give your life back over to it each and every day Judy. It just isn't worth it. You are doing great and those five days look awesome on you. Keep your determination. Keep marching forward. Hang in there Penquin. Your story is like so many of the rest of us...starting too young and struggling to regain our lost lives as we hit middle age! We are all cheering for you. Cigarettes Not Smoked

18 years ago 0 1306 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I had the day to myself today and decided to take a drive to find a special garden centre I wanted to go to. But, I needed gas. Well it seems I wasn't alone. I had a backseat driver saying "buy some smokes when you pay for the gas." I yelled back: "I'M NOT BUYING ANY SMOKES. I AM NOT GOING TO SMOKE." And I Didn't. 1 point for me. I stop and my parents house and as I went into the fridge to get milk for my coffee I saw a stack of cigarette packages in there keeping cool and fresh. I saw my life flash back about 28 years to the 15 year old who would then steal their smokes because I could not afford to buy my own. The nicodemon said "take a pack, they will never know and there you go deal done...we can get back to smoking." I closed the fridge Another point for me. I got very sad though, not because I didn't smoke, but for my Mom and Dad who are 75 years old, still smoking and who will never quit. Don't even go there about getting them to quit. As much as I hate that they have had to live a life of smoking, it makes me all the more determined to stay quit so that I do not have to live that life. The life of not having much of a life outside of smoking. They have one thing though....me and I love them and they love me. An emotional Day 5 for me. Trying to stay out of the pity pot.
