morningglory, Don't give up now, stay strong. Do not get discouraged. Learn for others mistakes and do not go back to smoking in 5 years. You have more willpower than that! Keep up the great work - 27 days is a lot to be proud of. Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team

I am the same as you today, the anxiety, agitation and craving is overwhelming and to make things worse I have a tummy bug. I like you need to just see it through, but this is really difficult. Hello! From what I have heard, those people who have quit for years, simply just light one up for no apparant reason. There was no craving, just plain old curiosity. All it takes is one puff to bring back those memories. I know the craves go away. A cig should never be something we wonder about 3 years from now. "Well let me see what it is like to smoke just one now, after all this time." That is a deadly thought. Good luck & stay strong. You are doing great!!! Thank you all for your advice. I am going to take just one day at a time.I think alot of us miss it and think we enjoy it so I could see how easy it would be to get back to it. I just thought after a certain amount of time would go by and you would know it was bad for you and your supposed to be feeling great and they still go back. Its just these hard times that scare me. I cant fight like this forever. It is sad to say but like I just finished dinner and it felt like something was missing. I felt like a cigarette would just complete this. How dumb am I? Its a terrible addiction and I just want to fight but I am also scared. Thanks to this site, it has helped alot just to be able to post and read. thank you again. and good luck to everyone else were all in the same boat. I have times when this is ok I can do this and others is like is the way Im feeling worth it because I want it so bad. Dont get me wrong I know it is worth it and I know all the right reasons are for quitting but when that urge for a cigarette comes all that reasoning goes out the window. It scares me that this is going to be a battle forever.Today is day 28 for me and I am craving a cigarette. I will fight this and hope that I never go back to it for my families sake. But when you see people who have quit five years or even twenty years and still go back to it. That scares the hell out of me.I want to forget I ever smoked and the urges to go away. will that ever happen. Hoping to hear from people who have quit for a while. Thank you all. This sight has really saved me from going back. Hi Morning I don't think we will have these craves forever. You can do this, just tell nicodemon to be quiet, shut up, go away. You really are stronger than he is, just focus on today and you can deal with tomorrow when it gets here. Stay Strong...28 days is GREAT Sheila ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,571 Amount Saved: $260 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 5 Mins: 12 Seconds: 57

Morningglory, He smiles (yes it is)! It's worth it. I remember d27 (ok around there....) it was really rough. For me it didn't start to pan out until about d40. Now I don't think about cigs that much - I would certainly consider myself an ex-smoker. I'm still here not to be complacent and also to encourage others. You can do this - you gotta hold it there it does get better. Morningglory and Matty... Congratulations on your awesome quits! The cravings do not last forever. Some days are better than others but each day you are building on your foundation for your life time quit. Each step you take prepares you and makes you that much stronger for the next. I fully relate to your fear of seeing people with long term quits giving in to the addiction and going back to smoking. I fear this myself but I have also learned that as long as I don't light that first cigarette, I will not smoke. Quitting smoking is a choice not a life sentence. It leads to a whole new world that you never knew existed and trust me it is awesome. Don't worry about how you will feel a year from now or five years from now. That is too much to handle at this stage of your quit. Just focus on the here and now. Get through the next five minutes and then the next. Keep taking it one step at a time and you will be amazed at the strength you build agains this horrible addiction.
