Exercising on the Patch

19 years ago 0 3368 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I can tape the patch on with duct tape if I have to. I'm not worried about it falling off. I am however concerned about it being 'safe' health wise for me to exercise with it on. Unfortunately I cannot go to the gym first thing as I have 3 children. I go to the gym in the evenings. I can not ask my doctor as I don't have health insurance. Make too much money to get state health insurance and I don't make enough to afford individual. Plus the private plans won't cover my husband or my oldest son. Isn't that special ... but that is another subject all together ... I should not even get started. LOL ... grrrrr! I will however ask a pharmacist next time I am at the store, though I don't know if they will be willing to give me any sound advice as everyone seems so afraid of being sued these days. All I know is that I want to exercise ... but I don't want to have a freaking heart attack. What about taking the patch off while I am at the gym and putting it back on as soon as I am finished working out? Could this be a possible solution?

I do not have a doctor. I do not have health insurance. I can stop at the drug store and check my blood pressure though and will do so. Thank you for your input Healer. Hi X Smoker, I'm not a doctor, but my understanding is that although it's perfectly safe, exercise can promote irregular absorption of nicotine from the patch (if that makes sense). I'd say that the benefits of exercise outweigh this as a concern Hope this helps Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,836 Amount Saved: 705 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 18 Mins: 26 Seconds: 0

X - Please be careful and check w/your doctor... I say this as I tried the patch at one time and I happen to go to the doctor one day when I had it on. My blood pressure was so high that he took that patch off and threw it in the trash and said never again... Don't ever use that patch again... So just to be safe, make sure where your blood pressure is (?)
