Hi Ariell, You are doing fantastic!!!!! Keep up the good work. No more cigs and no more weight gain. I'm in the same boat. I just started my quit smoking program, and I am afraid I too will start to gain weight. I think this will probably be the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. Good luck to you and me too! Ariell, I read this to late I guess and the site in which you talked about is not mentioned. Would you mind e-mailing me the site. I have put on 9 pounds since my quit and I feel like the fat cow in which you speak. thank you My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 53 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,071 Amount Saved: $265 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 5 Mins: 14 Seconds: 34

Ariell, Thank you so much for that information. I will check it out. This morning, I weighed more than I EVER have in my whole life. I was teetering on being a bit chubby when I quit. Now, I have gained 9 lbs. since my quit. UGH! I promised myself I would not try to do too much at once, but now, even with watching closely what I eat, I am getting very depressed about this weight gain. I also have not been as committed as I want to be to going to the gym. I have to refocus!!!! Thanks again! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 502 Amount Saved: $132 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 15 Mins: 37 Seconds: 22

My opinion, for what it's worth, is to feel quite strong and comfortable in your quit BEFORE embarking on the diet/fitness thing. Try to avoid stuffing yourself with sweets and calorie laden food during the beginning of your quit as much as you can, but get the cigs behind you first. They'll kill you quicker than the few extra pounds. Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I've ever done. For the first time in my life, a diet doesn't seem half as difficult as it was before. Ooops. Sorry Josie. I didn't realize. I'll be happy to email the info to anyone who want is. My screenname/email at AOL is: depassaro (I'm not sure if I can post the actual email address. Do the math. *G*) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 136 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,729 Amount Saved: $462.4 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 0 Mins: 54 Seconds: 22

From my quit in mid October to mid January, I became a big, fat cow. I gained nearly 20 pounds onto my already overburdened frame. UGH! About mid January I felt comfortable enough in my quit to take on the weight monster and found a website that has been as helpful in taking off the pounds as SSC was in getting rid of the nasty cancer sticks. Since mid January, I've gotten rid of nearly 14 pounds...and in a VERY healthy fashion as well. My goal is to get rid of 50 pounds by the end of the summer, and so far I'm right on track. Whoo hoo.....just wait until the end of summer when I'm slim, trim and SO TOTALLY a non-smoker! *G* My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 135 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,708 Amount Saved: $459 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 22 Mins: 19 Seconds: 28

Ariell, Thanks for the support. Please take a look at the site and use all the useful knowledge available. Doing a search under the topic "weight" will also provide you with lots of information about weight management. I have edited your post as we are not allowed to post other sites or links within this site. ( NO WORRIES) Congrats on 135 days and 14 pounds lost! What an achievement! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
