Hi, Trudy. Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking and welcome to the SSC.
Don't worry about long, whiney posts. Whine, cry, scream, laugh, gripe, complain, babble incoherently. It's all good because that's what we're here for. :)
What pulled you back 20 years ago was the addiction. Nicotine is now listed as a drug of addiction, just like heroin and cocaine. In fact, the brain's response to nicotine is very similar to its response to cocaine. Spooky, huh? But it can be overcome. Just look around this site for proof.
I strongly suggest you work through this site's Online Quit Program. There's a ton of good information and tips that will help you through this.
Stay close, read much, post often. Let us know how you're doing and how we can help. This is a great decision you've made for your life, Trudy. You can do this (I know these things). ;)
Oh, and remember to check the "Show my Quit Meter" box when you make a post. Watching the numbers climb is a real boost.
