Hi everyone, Congrats to all yee quiters!! Iv just quit last week and was doing pretty good all week until last night. Last night was the toughest night as i went out with a group of friends who smoke. There's nothing we would enjoy better than to go out for a few drinks, smokes and relax. They were very good and did not smoke around me. The main problem i encountered was that i was guzzling drink like a woman on a mission, ending up blind drunk!! I think i enjoy my cigs most when im drinking and obviously i just kept signaling the barman to keep my sanity. Buggles Has anyone any suggestions as to how you would combat this problem? Apart from the issue of an expanding waistline due to this, i dont want to save my lungs then kill my liver :confuse: Text My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 77 Amount Saved: 22.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 21 Seconds: 3

Bugles, I wrote a post about quitting and drinking a while back... you can read it here. But this has more to do with not caving in a bar... it sounds like you did a good job of not caving in a tough situation... most wouldn't have weathered as well as you did so early in your quit. Congratulations for that. This post DOES however give some good suggestions for keeping busy while at a bar... that's the best way to distract yourself from smoking and it's pretty easy to do at most bars. Hope this post helps. This is often the hardest trigger to get over, and since when you're drinking, you're not completely sober, so it's VERY easy to give into the nicodemon when he's screaming in your ear and you're not sober enough to knock him off your shoulder. I caution you on drinking to excess so early in a quit... that can be quite dangerous to a quit (I know from personal experience), so try to limit your alcohol consumption when out at the bars. Hope this helps you out some. Keep up the awesome quit! Crave the Quit! Bugles, Welcome to our support community and please look around. Did you end up smoking? You need to distract yourself from these tempting situations and avoid them for the first little while. Be the designated driver once in a while or just opt to stay home. You can also take a look on how to cut back on your drinking at our sister site www.alcoholhelpcenter.net You need to protect your quit and we can help. Take the time to use the available tools to assist you with those craves and situations that can make you crave. Post often and let us know how you do, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
