Making it through

Hi all, This morning I posted how I was having some urges again and the fear of never having one was killing me. I really am trying to do this and doing ok with it. But what scares me is what happens when I am off the patches, will the urges be hard again. Im wondering if maybe today especially this morning was hard because I have been sleeping without the patch at night. I am still on patch one and hope this is not a crutch that I will have to go through that hell of the first week and a half again when I come off the patch. Does anyone know how you feel when you finish the patch. Thanks for everyones help. I never realized how much writing what you think or feel really does help. hi morning..... I was on the patch - started with the "high grade" dosage (21mg) and moved to the 14mg for about 2 weeks before I finally said "to heck with this" (they kept falling off.....guess I was running out of sticky places to put them?? ;) ) The advice to you right now, this day, is don't worry about HOW you are accomplishing your quit, only that :) YOU ARE DOING THIS!!! And that is what matters most. Do not concern yourself with what "might" happen when you come off the patch. Or if you are relying on them too heavily right now. Today, do what YOU need to do to get thru. If that means eating a bag of M&M's or curling up in bed for the afternoon, or talking non-stop with your friends - do WHATEVER IT TAKES TODAY. You will make it to tomorrow. And then today will be yesterday and tomorrow will be today. And you deal only with today. If you start wondering and worrying about what might happen 2 months from now, you will add too much stress to an already stressful situation. One day at a time. One hour at a time. One minute at a time. Or one second at a time. That's how we measure for the first while. And then it gets better. Promise......... Hi, Morningglory. I don't have any patch experience (took the Wellbutrin route), but from what I've seen here the most you'll experience will be a few minor craves the day of the step-down. Some folks don't even have that. My Mom, rest her soul, used to warn about "worrying something into existence". That is to say, if you worry about something long enough it will happen. The self-help gurus say the same thing with a reverse twist: "What you can believe, you can achieve." Same thing just a different direction. She also used to say "Prepare for the worst, expect the best, and take what comes." That's the best advice I've ever heard for a quitter. Even if craves do happen, Morningglory, just remember that they're only temporary. Just log on, post, read, and wait them out. 15 days is an awesome accomplishment, Morningglory. Congratulations. Don't forget to reward yourself. That's very important right now.
