Bill,
sorry to hear of the passing of a loved one. I can only imagine how hard it must be for you right now. Please try and stay strong and get through the rough of it...I have found this site to be a God sent that has seen me through many, many rough moments of my quit. Nothing even close to what you are going through but, rough all the same. You are right with me on the 6th day of your quit...lets be strong together and get through this rough period. You can do it, its simply a matter of choice...you can choose to smoke, or you can choose NOT to smoke. I truly believe that we all have it in us to not smoke, it's just a matter of finding the strength and courage to do so.
Stay strong and stick to this site..you will get through this.

I am proud to report that I have made it another day!!! I was once again faced with a huge challenge. I ran out of my nicorette gum and desparately needed to get more. I took my son into the drug store with me and he went completely spastic on me over a pack of bubble gum. I'm looking and looking for where this ridiculously enormous drug store might stock the gum...couldn't find it anywhere!!! At this point my 3 year old is lying on the floor, kicking, screaming, I'm on the verge of tears myself, people are looking at me like I'm insane because I have lost all my patience and sensiblity. So, I made my way to the check out counter to buy a pack of smokes....I just couldn't take it anymore! Well guess what folks? They kept the nicorette behind the counter with all of the cigarettes!!!!!!!! Talk about a sign! I opted for the gum and got the heck out of there.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet with that episode. Demon nicotine is watching us very closely, waiting for an opportunity, and he is very good at what he does. These close calls may happen for a reason. They give us something to reflect on the next time we weaken.... and we will weaken a next time. Last night a family member passed away and demon nicotine has never been so persuasive but I did not smoke.

There is a wonderful advert running in the UK at the moment.
Child throws total wobbly in middle of store.....mother stares silently and then has own tantrum, rolling on floor, screaming, banging fists etc.......child looks on in silent horror. Both finish and walk quietly out of the store.
Stay proud to be quit!
Brent
