my 2nd day

Joy, Congratulations on your quit! Reaching day two is a great accomplishment. Through out the next couple of weeks, stay close to the site post as often as you wish. If you have not already, make a list of coping mechanisms. This list will assist you when a craving arises. When a craving sets in, think about what are you going to do or what you can do to not give in! Try writing down some coping techniques to particular scenarios. For example, the house is clean there is nothing to do and the cravings kicks in. You have already eaten and you are in a state of panic. Try leaving the house, go for a walk, call a friend, jump on the site, have a shower. Anything that takes your mind off of temptation is beneficial. I smoked my last cig at 10:30 p.m. Wed. with my quit date on Thurs. I slept late Thurs. then to mall for all day shopping with my college-aged daughter. No problems - no NRT - just Ziban and lots of prayers. I was amazed at how well it when and now I'm well into the second day with still having to face no major hurdles. It's almost too good to be true. I was so scared but I did alot of mental preparation that hopefully is paying off. Also this mental prep has lead to alot of tears shed from alot of soul searching and beginning to rearrange things in my mind so that nicotine won't have room there to tempt me. Hope all is doing well. Just wanted everyone to know that I am still around and have just been staying as busy as possible the last few days.

Joy, I am SO happy to hear how well you are doing. :) That is just awesome. All that mental prep has you ahead of the game and you are well on your way to a smoke-free life. Most of us here have wanted or at least thought about quiting for a while before we got to this point, but it often takes us a while to really get our mind on board. Make sure to read through the info here...it's is very helpful. Whenever you need some help or a pat on the back, stop on by...someone will be here to help you out. I quit, that's it. Good to hear you're doing so well Joy! That prep work is a REALLY good idea, and as you're figuring out right now, it really does help to put you in the right frame of mind to quit.
