Can't stop thinking about smoking!!! HELP!!!

Jess, You can expect to feel nicotine withdrawal symptoms after you quit smoking. However, they usually improve after the first three or four days, depending on your level of nicotine addiction. Each smoker has different withdrawal symptoms - yours will be unique. Although they may be unpleasant, they do pass. When you experience withdrawal symptoms, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery - your body is in the process of healing itself. Think of withdrawal symptoms as growing pains. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Hope this helps, Melanie ______________________ The SSC Support Team

Jess- Definitly do something to get your mind off of the crave. If cleaning is your thing, clean away. I probably should do some of that myself. I work from home and have been avoiding going out latly just so I don't have to deal with seeing smokers yet. Sometimes it bothers me just to see someone light up on TV. Last night my husband and I were doing the self-check out at Kroger and I'm not sure what happened unless a smoker walked close by. My nose started sniffing and it was like I was a dog hunting down that treat I could smell but could not see. I'm sure I must have looked like an idiot to some in the store, but the smell just really bothered me. Fortunatly I got over it rather quickly. I guess we must learn to deal with the fact that there are many triggers out there that we can't control, we just have to learn how to deal with them in our own way. Best of Luck, just say N.O.P.E Sheila My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 434 Amount Saved: $70 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 58 Seconds: 45

Okay, I haven't had this one yet so all I can do is give some suggestions: 1. Got running shoes? Just put them on, and start running. Get that i-pod or mp3 player loaded with some great music, and run. Just don't forget to drink some water once in a while. 2. If it is too cold to go running, do you have a membership to a gym? If so, just go there. 3. Or go to the mall, go shopping, or go to the movies. Well, that's all I could come up with. Hope this helps a little. Whatever you do: Don't smoke. Imagine how your clothes will stink again, your hair, your breath. Yikes!!! And even worse, imagine how the smoke will pollute your vital organs with every puff!!! You have come so far, you'd be kicking yourself afterwards if you gave into the nico demon, he is not your friend, he is evil. Ok, I need to vent, yell, get help or I am gonna loose it. I don't know what's wrong with me but I can't stop thinking about smoking.. It's been for the last few days. I thought that it would be gone by now but I get up thinking about it, I think about it all day and i go to bed thinking about it. And it's nuts because I am not doing anything out of the norm for me. Like last night fot instance. I went to the garage to visit my boyfriend (he is custom building his F150) and I brought him pizza and his friend was there too. So here we are eating Pizza, drinking soda and just talking then WAMMO out of the blue I want a cigg so bad I could have killed somebody. and the weird part is that they don't smoke neither one of them have ever smoked. SO I ASK WHY???? why was I getting these insane cravings?? (not that anyone can really answer that question but I would love to hear thoughts). And it's happeneing again this morning.. I can't stop.. And of course as you know that stupid little demon is on both shoulders and saying "why not, you know you want to, it won't hurt you that much, and you can always quit later, you deserve it for going this long without me" AAAARRRRGGGG. I know that I don't have any nic in my system so why is it feeling like I am going through horrible withdrawls? I am afraid that I will cave and just go by a pack.. Maybe I will clean instead.. I just can't take it anymore!!! Jess, Hang in there. This too shall pass. I can;t talk to these cravings as I haven;t had them in a couple weeks. What I can talk to is that you did the right thing posting about it. I am sure someone will come along with some usefull information. I wish it were me, but I am lacking in the knowledge. I saw a few other Ash Kickers going throught this last week. I personally am not looking forward to it. Hang in there you can beat this thing. Just get pissed at Nicodemon and tell him to take a hike. Just Say N.O.P.E. Hi Jess, Hang on tight girl, you'll get through this. You have already gotten excellent advice here, but I agree with Rusty. I think the pizza and visiting were triggers from your "past" life. In this life as a non-smoker, you love to eat pizza, visit, and you never, never want to have a cig. afterwards. That is my wish for you. It will happen, just keep strong and come talk to us. I know you wouldn't miss your 50th birthday!
