Smoking?.......its probably less dangerous to go and clamp your lips around a bus exhaust......unless it starts reversing! I agree with everything Georgie just said. The buddy system really does work when you are quitting and the groups help keep each other going. I'm part of the group called the Smobers and I never would have made it without the support of my peers. To all of the new quitters here, I know you probably have or will read items as the one below. Please keep all of this in mind as you go thru the first hours, days, weeks, months of your quit. As bad as you "think" you want old "nico demon" to re enter your life, believe me you DON'T!!! I hope this helps some of you. "Smoking doesn't make us look cool and sophisticated; it makes us weak and sick. Smoke from cigarettes can hurt the lungs and hearts of smokers and the people around them. Smoking can cause heart disease, lung cancer, and respiratory problems. There are more than 4,000 chemicals in cigarette smoke, 200 of which are poisonous. Chemicals common in cigarette smoke are formaldehyde, used to preserve dead bodies; cadmium, used in car batteries; carbon monoxide, also found in car exhaust; and nicotine, which is used as an insecticide" Hang in there, it does get better. Stick close to the site and buddy up with a group or start your own group here. I am part of one of the best groups on this site, the UNSMOKEABLES. Read some of our old and new posts and see that we went thru some tough times, but this month we are all celebrating our 1 year "QUIT" ANNIVERSARY! So know that it can be done! Good Luck!
Chemicals common in cigarette smoke are formaldehyde, used to preserve dead bodies; cadmium, used in car batteries; carbon monoxide, also found in car exhaust; and nicotine, which is used as an insecticide
I think some of us more seasoned quitters tend to forget the basic horrors. ..I know I do. It's a good reminder to see it in print. Just a few more days for you, Georgie! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 366 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,329 Amount Saved: $1306.62 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 19 Mins: 17 Seconds: 27
