hypnosis???

I tried hypnosis twice. The first time, I went to a retired doctor who began doing hypnosis to help cancer patients deal with the pain and then began doing the stop smoking sessions. He used the "suggestion hypnosis" and he told me that I would automatically light a cigarette out of habit but when I did, iti would taste so awful it would make me sick. I left his office, went out for dinner with my husband and I automatically took out a cigarette and lit it and gagged so bad, I got sick. Everytime I tried to light one, I got sick but after 4 days, it didn't work. When I called to make another appointment, I learned he was no longer doing it. A couple years later, I went to another one. I threw away all my cigarettes as I was told to do, paid him $200, went through the session, left and on the way home I stopped at a 7/11 store, bought a pack of cigarettes. I couldn't wait. I have found there is only way to stop and that is do it the hard way. That's what I'm trying to do now. Wish me luck as I wish you luck.

Hi All! Have any of you tried hypnosis? I am going to a seminar tomorrow...but am a little nervous about it. I have heard some good things about it. A friend that I work with told me hypnosis really helped her. I am going to try it. I guess it can't hurt. Would love to know if anyone else tried. Hey mo-mo, I tried it a couple years back and quit for 3 or 4 days is all. It really didn't help me much at all but I have friends that have been smoke free for over 2 years because of it. Give it a try, whatever it takes for you to be smoke free. Good luck, hope it works for you. We had a friend who tried it last summer and did very well for about 2 weeks. He's smoking now more than ever so I don't think for him it worked. Having said that, I know another lady who went 5 years ago and is still smoke free, so I think it really has to do with the person. Good luck on your quit. vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,690 Amount Saved: $644 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 13 Mins: 12 Seconds: 4

I tried it very recently (my last quit before this one). It worked for about 4 days and $400. Ouch. I guess it is all in your mind...guess I really wasn't ready to quit just then. The minute I walked out of the office after my "formal hypnosis" I wanted a smoke. I held off for 4 days but broke down and said to hell with it. If you are truly ready to quit, I wouldn't waste your money on hypnosis. This site, wellbutrin, and nicotine gum are what got me as far in this quit as I've gotten (mostly this site). I wish you luck in whatever you do to quit...anything is good as long as you quit! Let us know what you do. N.O.P.E. I agree with everyone here. If you're looking for something to make quitting EASY, I'm afraid there isn't anything that will do that, but if you're looking for something to help you, then this might very well work. I agree with 3Galeh that it's all about mindset. If you think that it'll work for you, then try it. Crave the Quit! Mo-Mo, I've got to agree with Janet - i tried it once, went for the three sessions, and each time i got in the car afterwards and lit up...being on the patch works better for me, but everyone's different. You're right though, it can't hurt, and it just may work for you. I have a friend who did it 20 years ago and to this day still doesnt like cigarettes. I think its all in the mind set, same as the patch, gum etc. If you want it bad enough it will work!! Mo-Mo, Some people have had success with hypnosis, others have not :) It is always worth a try. Step by step you will succeed and we can help. Let us know how it goes, Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
