Congratulations Celia. It is amazing the changes quitting brings about. We all seem to find ourselves doing things we never even dreamed of doing before. It feels good! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 261 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,228 Amount Saved: $913.5 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 0 Mins: 49 Seconds: 35

A couple of months ago I decided on a whim to enter an 8.4 km fun run. I'm not sure why I made the decision as I have always hated running. I tried jogging a few years ago (as a smoker) and it just made me feel sick and dizzy. It burnt my chest and made me cough and wheeze, so painful. It only lasted a couple of nights, then I gave up. Well, this time I have put in a lot of time and effort for training, building up my running time from 5 mins to 1 hour. I ran the race today and I ran the whole distance without stopping or walking, in 1 hour 4 mins. I am so proud of myself!!! I hope this inspires some-one else - I was never incredibly unfit or unhealthy but quitting smoking has made an amazing difference to my fitness level and i enjoyed every minute of the run. I am doing a 10 km one next week!!!
