And, Ron, well you already know. Chin up, N.O.P.E. and remember no matter what, you are not alone, we are all right there with you, and we will be here when you return. Prayers with you and blessings sent your way. You have Light around you protecting you. And I am really (really) good at what I do :) So, not to worry, friend, you're covered. One moment at a time. Remember your promise? :) Love and Blessings- Healer My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 84 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,941 Amount Saved: $390.6 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 21 Mins: 35 Seconds: 11

Ron, you got through before and continued with your quit and you can do it again. Surgery for anyone is a worrying thing but in many ways if you were in a position where you could not have it then that would be even more worrying. Joe is right about being lucky it is 2006, we truly live in miraculous times. Enjoy your weekend Ron, you will be in my thoughts. Ron,
but I'm sure going to try fulfilling this weekends promise. (Not one puff taken yet anyway)
Lets not go there friend. Yes this is a difficult time and yes the quitting is hard but you know by now that smoking would not change a thing. All it would do is make matters worse for you. You have to have faith and believe that you are going to pull through this and be fine because you really are. You have all these good people here in your quit family praying for you. That is some powerful stuff Ron. You are quit. Just think of the thoughts that would be going through your mind if you werent. This situation does not change your quit. Life happens, even when we dont smoke. I am sure you are afraid of what lies ahead for you. I know I would be in your situation. Lean on us, that is why we are here. Hang on to your quit with everything you have. You will come out on top of this situation victoriously and you will be a stronger non-smoker because of it. Think of the confidence you will build. You make it through this and you will know that you can make it through anything. You CAN do this. Nothing has changed here. It still takes the same to stay quit as it did a couple of weeks ago. One step at a time using N.O.P.E. Ron, Hang in there. You'll be so glad you did when the surgery is over. They always say that it's better if you don't smoke when you're having surgery, so don't complicate things by smoking! I wish you the best! You'll be in my prayers. Crave the Quit! Rootin' for you Ron. I can't do much more than agree with some of the finer points made by the wonderful people above in this thread. Smoking will only make things worse. The best thing would be to remember that no matter what. YOU CAN DO IT!!! :| Ignore them. Pretend you don't know them or want to. Be indifferent to them. Just don't smoke. Ron, As typical control freaks, you and I are in the same boat when it comes to having to rely on others for something. Surgery, even minor surgery, can mess with us. Your upcoming operation is a good news/bad news situation. The plus side is that it's not cancerous... the bad news is they have to do brain surgery. Then again, the really good news is that you have some of the very best doing it. The operation will be a success and you will mend just fine. They know what they are doing and you probably have more risk having your gall bladder out! Appreciate the fact that this is 2006 and not 1936. Back then even skilled doctors just didn't have the technology to do something like this. You are, in many ways, a very lucky man. We are all pulling for you. We know you will be OK. One last thing.. No Smoking!!!! ;p Best wishes and many prayers, Be Strong. Be Smart. When soneone has to have surgery, they fear the unknown. They give there power and control over to complete strangers and "hope for the best". I Know because I am one of those people whom the patient gives the control to. As I stand beside my patients receiving anaesthesia, I will whisper "We'll take really good care of you."...and I WILL take really good care of them. You are putting yourself into excellent hands Ron. They are strangers willing to do all they can for you and you MUST do all you can to help. Know that you have done Your Best to take really goood care of you.
