Don't skip breakfast!!

18 years ago 0 54 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I've noticed some people on the diet watch just have coffee and nothing else for breakfast. It's really important to eat breakfast even if you are not hungry. Every time you eat it "kick starts" your metabolism. I have sucessfully lost 20 of the 30 lbs I gained since my quit!! What has worked for me is eating small amounts 6 or 7 times a day. My meals are no bigger than my snacks... but I'm constantly eating. I am eating anything I want but never more than I can hold in 1 hand.I love cheese and fruit combo's!! Low fat cheese is my preference. I have lost more weight eating 2000 calories this way than I did eating 1400 calories in 3 meals... I was always hungry then and I'm never hungry now. I do walk twice a day 5 days a week. I have always done that(even when I smoked). I just wanted to share what has worked for me.... :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/15/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,225 Amount Saved: $420 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 22 Mins: 21 Seconds: 45

Good advice all~ Exercise and eating (small amounts) 6 or 7 times a day works for me too. I bought a bunch of those little plastic containers with lids and Sunday is my food prep day. It makes staying on track the rest of the week a breeze. -- 3galeh, I remember reading this about you (not gaining alot) when I first came here and thinking at the time "Look at that!" :) ~all the best N2k My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 177 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,913 Amount Saved: $885 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 21 Mins: 9 Seconds: 58

Thanks N2k, I am proud I lost and proved it can be done. For me it was necessary, because I knew if I gained I would use that as an excuse to go back to smoking. I said when I first quit it can be done and I still stick to it. So many here say don't worry about the weight but if you worry about the weight then your not worring about smoking :p Mike I will try to post it more, I know I did in the beginning but I guess I havent lately. I too think its important for people to know you can quit and NOT gain. Why would you replace one bad habit (smoking) with another (eating). I did a thread a long time back and I have tried to find it but haven't had any luck yet. I'll try again and maybe bump it up. I will second that. When I started my quitting I went on a diet at the same time (I know I shouldnt do that but it worked!!) and I went to smaller and more frequent meals and eat breaky now too and it does work. from size 12 to 6 and quit smoking too!!! Hi Mike, I have told this story before, I guess you missed it. I dont mind sharing it though because I am proud of me. The week before I quit smoking I went on one of those soup diets and lost 6 lbs (I think, long time ago now) It got me to eating healthy and snacking on veggies. So when I quit I started watching calories and exercising. I bought allot of low fat foods, low sugar candies to eat and REALLY tried NOT to replace my smoking with food. I quit in April so the weather was good, I walked 2 miles in the morn and 2 at night, plus I rode my bike whenever I could. Hubby and I did allot of seadooing since it was so hot last summer and I know that helped (swam allot in the Niagara River) This winter I have worked out with DVD's and I have an exercise bike, plus I walk when the weather allows. It has been a long hard journey but one that I am proud of. I also got a new job, its like a whole new me :) It can be done (diet and quit) but I am telling you it was HARD, but it is WORTH it!!!! that is great both of you. It is worth posting for all to see one can at least maintain and maybe even lose weight after they quit. Gaining weight is a concern for so many of us but you both have proven it is possible to work it out. Thanks The Journey is the Reward My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/6/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 223 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,948 Amount Saved: $1561 Life Gained: Days: 37 Hrs: 7 Mins: 13 Seconds: 51
