ExRoller,
Here is something that may help with the cravings:
When a craving sets in, think about what are you going to do or what you can do to not give in! Try writing down some coping techniques to particular scenarios. For example, the house is clean there is nothing to do and the cravings kicks in. You have already eaten and you are in a state of panic. Try leaving the house, go for a walk, call a friend, jump on the site, have a shower. Anything that takes your mind off of temptation is beneficial.
Take Care,
Melanie

I don't understand! I thought my cravings were supposed to be worst during the first few days of my quit. In reality I've had no cravings until day 6. Today is day 7 and I feel as if I've quit WARM TURKEY. Not nearly the physical misery of cold turkey, yet not the total comfort of 4 mg. lozenges.
Too, I must figure out how to lovingly tell my smoker husband that although I would love to kiss his face off, I must steer clear of him except after a shower and good tooth brushing.
Can't wait until bedtime! Sleep, the great escape.

Something just occured to to me: I've been having really strong cravings the last 3 days (although absolutely solid on my desire to stay quit). This is my second quit in 2 years and using NRT again. This time however I am using much less (I think because last time I quit I got down to 2-3 NRTs a day (either gum or inhalers), so this time when I quit, I just naturally only used the 2-3 again (it doesn't occur to me to use any more than that, so I don't). So I have come to the conclusion that:
1.That's why the cravings are worse this time
2.I must be a luke warm turkey!

On a quit a twelve years years ago I just kept cutting the patch in half each day until one day I forgot to wear it. I quit cold turkey this time because I was tired of buying those patches. There are lots of demons to be exorcised when quitting smoking and a major one is sticking that cigarette in your mouth and firing it up. Anything that can help with that part of quitting smoking is welcome help. Good luck with your quit and keep cutting them in half until you forget about it.

Get that turkey in the freezer!
Whatever it takes to stop smoking is fine by me. I didn't use NRT cos I wanted to get the nicotine out of my system as quickly as I could, so what follows is speculation.
You have obviously been on a low dose since you stopped, so could it be that the withdrawral phase is extended, and that gradually the nicotine levels have dropped to the point where the cold turkey craves hit at the three day mark?
I know it won't make you feel better but it may explain it.
Brent
I think I almost confused myself there!

Hey Ex Roller, sorry to hear you've been having such bad craves lately. These things are natural at this stage in your quit. Take life easy and have a little patience with yourself. Things will start looking up for you soon.
