Tom, Welcome to the site and congratulations on becoming an ex-smoker! It is great to hear that you are ready to quit! The question is are you prepared? Please take advantage of our free Online Treatment Program in your glove compartment as you log into our site. This program will first help you determine if youre ready to quit. If youve already quit and are looking for some help, this program is for you. Although the program will first assess if youre ready to quit the exercises at the beginning of the program will help remind you of the reasons why you quit in the first place. Dont get frustrated - ex-smokers have told us that the exercises at the beginning of the program gave them confidence and helped them reaffirm their personal commitment to remain smoke free. The exercises in this program are divided into six major milestones. Think of each milestone as a destination youre trying to reach. After you complete the exercises in each milestone, your car will progress along the road map located at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. The best thing about this program is that it is free and you dont have to purchase any products to use this program. We hope that we have guided you in the right direction today! Please feel free to contact our support department in our feedback section found at the bottom of this page if you continue to have any questions or concerns. Or, please continue to join us here at our online support group! We wish you all the best and look forward to helping you achieve your goals! Take Care, Melanie __________________ The SSC Support Team

I'm a 50 yr old male, smoker for 25 years, 1 pk a day. I was recently diagnosed with arthrosclorsis (with main problem in my Lt leg). I have to quit smoking before March 8th, before my appointment with the vascular surgeon. I actually started Feb 5th with no smokes all week. Things kind of fell apart last night and I gave in, now I have to start all over. I'm using nicorette gun to help me along.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Missyfit. It's really apreciated big time. I was doing pretty well all week, not one smoke. Lots of nicorette though. I kinda gave in to situational stress last night and killed of a pack in about 12 hours. I shook myself this morning and now I'm back on my gun. Again thanks for the vote confidence Tom

Sorry! I mispelled the word. It is actually atherosclerosis. Bottom line is; my arteries are cogging up reducing/preventing blood flow. Smoking is a major contributor to the progression of this disease. One main artery in my lt leg is totally blocked.

Thanks Melanie: I'm sure I will be sticking this one out to the end. I really don't have much choice in the matter at this point.

Tom, you can do it, honestly - it only takes grit and determination. I am 53 and smoked for 35 years, that is a tough habit to break I can tell you. I know I am only on day 6 but I am confident of keeping quit because I have committed myself to not giving in to the craves no matter how tough it gets. If you feel it getting to you just come onto this site, the folk here are absolute angels and will give you all the support you meed. Good luck and don't forget you can do it, you know you can because it it you who rules your life and nothing else. :8|: My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 66 Amount Saved: 12.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 10 Seconds: 9

Hey, My advice to you is to read as much as you can on this site and othies er web sites about quitting smoking and the effects of smoking. tor As well I found it h selpful to goto the Hall Of Fame on this site and read all the amazing stories by past quitters who used this site to stay smoke-free. They all have great advice and some have lots of bad circumstances against them but in the end they truimphed. good luck. Well I somehow missed the Welcome Wagon for you Tom... So a belated Welcome now. I'm f/41 --- Having talked with you already elsewhere I just wanted to say.... I know men often find it more difficult to talk about thier problems (in detail) but it sure can help sometimes to get it off your chest. I kinda like to follow the old adage: "I need not suffer in silence while I can still complain." ;) So, don't be shy. *lookN forward 2seeing more of U* N2k My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 175 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,870 Amount Saved: $875 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 16 Mins: 42 Seconds: 37
