I know how you feel. I have only been smoke free for 45 hours. I am fine until I'm around my husband. Just because he looked at me funny I wanted to kill him. I really thought hey some people do get away with it, could I. My husband smokes and he did quit around me but he left his pack out and I took 1. I did cry for about 10 minutes just holding it. He came in very concerned about me. He thought I was physically hurt b/c I was crying so bad. Finally I just lit up. I only took 3 hits off of the cig. and it made me very dizzy so I put it out but then I lit the rest of it back up about 1/2 hour later. I am really going to try and not smoke anymore. Wish me luck..

I was on day 23 and I bought a pack of cigarettes. Don't ask me why I just did. I smoked for 5 days and today I am trying again. Every cigarette I had I felt bad but I still had them. What's wrong with me. I don't have will power. I feel so bad. When I wasn't smoking I felt good about myself. I would go home and give my kids and hubby a big hug. I did not smell of cigarettes. I'm trying again. How do I start my meter again. Please help me. H, All I can say is I agree with what everyone else has said. Don't be so hard on yourself. It is a good sign that you are ready to try again. I never thought I would be able to quit. It is true that you really have to want to quit more then you want to smoke. This is not the first time I have tried to quit and I never tried again after only 5 days it was more like 5 years. If you really want it something will just click in your brain and you will be able to do it. Even though it is not the easiest thing in the world to do in the beginning, the longer you can go the easier it is to say no. You can do it! You can slip up as much as you like, but be very hard on yourself cos - when all's said & done, the bottom line is ..... You must want to quit.. only then will you succeed. H, we can all light up if we want to, the only reason we don't is because we don't want to ! :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 425 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,648 Amount Saved: $2762.5 Life Gained: Days: 61 Hrs: 0 Mins: 36 Seconds: 45

H - I know that you feel bad right now but don't. Slipping is not failing...it's a learning experience. You're here aren't you?? N.O.P.E. H. As Rusty said, figure out what it was that triggered you to go buy the pack to begin with. No matter what you don't light up. Quit is quit and smoking is smoking. If you are quit you do not smoke regardless of what comes along the path of life. I know it isn't easy but you have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. Only then can you be successful along this difficult journey. Believe in yourself. You can beat this horrible addiction. We are all rooting for you. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off, best foot forward...here we go... H, one thing you must do is figure out what's going on that made you buy that pack. Only you can sort that out. Perhaps you can write it out -- how did it feel to be quit for 23 days? What was causing you cravings/triggers? How did you feel when you made the decision to buy that pack? Why did you keep smoking even when you felt bad about it? And what are your reasons for wanting to quit? What do you see will be the benefits? You can't just say "Don't ask me why" or "What's wrong with me." You have to sort through it all and figure it out. Go back and re-do the workbook. Re-examine your motivations. Be sure that you truly want to quit more than you want to smoke. And then, as mc says, don't smoke anymore, okay?!
