I say shout it out!!! I even told the staff where I use to buy my cigs before I quit. The more people you tell, the less chance you'll slip I think. Be Loud, Be Proud. ang, At first I didn't tell everyone, just cause I didn't want to to have to answer all the time the big question, "How are you doing not smoking??" Somedays you just want to tear their heads off and scream NOT VERY GOOD!!!! After about 2-3 weeks when I felt like I had some control over it and felt like I was really going to keep this one I started to tell everyone. And I mean everyone!! When I quit I only told the ones close to me cause you really need the support and understanding to make it cause it is hard we all know that. On the other hand it feels so good so have someone ask you and notice that you haven't lit up a cigarette and you can say "oh yea, I quit 2 weeks ago, like it is no big deal now. :) Even though you know it is and you have the biggest smile on your face and it is one of the proudest moments in your life. Someone else noticed, thats BIG!! Hey, I am wondering if I should go public that I have quit smoking. My family knows I've quit smoking and two close friends but should I just not tell many people or only if they ask or just let them notice themselves. What do you guys think and what did you do when you just newly quit? I agree with Missyfit. Shout it to the rooftops that you've quit! Lots of smokers in my family and where I worked at the time refused to give me cigarettes if they knew I quit because I was attempting to do something they wished they could do. Some smokers aren't very supportive, but most of the ones I know are and so I told them and it made it easier to stay quit when around them. So I say, tell everyone you know! Be PROUD of the fact that you've quit! Crave the Quit! Hi ang, I didn't tell anyone in my family for the first 3 days. I think it was because I wasn't sure I could do it. I decided after that to tell anybody that would listen (I still do lol). I figured the more that knew...the less likely I would be to slip. I'd have too many folks to answer to. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 373 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,472 Amount Saved: $1331.61 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 13 Mins: 26 Seconds: 17

So leave out the age part and tell them they'll have to sell you gum instead :) By the way, ang... I think it's awesome that you're quitting young. I admire you for doing what so many won't do... and I wish I'd been that smart at your age. Congratulations on a very wise decision! You'll never regret it. the first couple of days I didn't say much about it....I was too occupied just trying to handle being quit! once I got a bit of a plan down and a few days under my belt, I began to tell EVERYONE that I was no longer smoking!!! Remember that this is a personal thing.....if at any point it will make you feel better in ANY way to say that you no longer smoke????,,,,,well then say it....loud and clear! consider 'telling' it a reward for 'doing' it! kick butt.....you will never be sorry that you made this choice!! katy
