Alergies/Hives???

19 years ago 0 84 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi phreaknbz, I do have a favorite silver necklace that I can't wear any longer because after only a few hours of wearing it my neck breaks out in a red rash. I hadn't even considered that it could be related to stopping smoking until I read your post and realized that the problem began just in this last month.... very peculiar. OK, what is going on now. My body has been doing really wierd things since I quit, most of them not pleasant. My skins been breaking out and now I have a new problem. I'm getting hives and such.. I'm itchy.. it is very strange. So, has anyone else had problems with getting alergies to "stuff" that they didn't have before they quit? Maybe I'm becoming alergic to the gum?? I don't know, but this is very strange. Not pretty and not too comfortable either.. good thing that I am in an unusually good mood today ;-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 88 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,643 Amount Saved: $616 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 13 Mins: 56 Seconds: 5

The seasons just changed. There's stuff in the air that wasn't there just a few weeks ago. I've heard that smoking can mask symptoms of allergies. It stops your immune system from reaction and that when you stop you might suddenly be allergic to things... I guess I'd see my doctor if it kept up for any amount of time. Kepp us posted and good luck! 88 days is HUGE! Please know that not every symptom is a result of quitting smoking, especially at 88 days. Because the quit takes so much space in our lives, we tend to attribute everything to it. There are a million and one reasons why you might be itching...it's a good idea to check with medical professionals. phreak, Your symptoms will be unique and may not match those of other members. If this persists, check with your doctor to rule out anything medical. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
