World No Tobacco Day

As a smoker, I always secretly wanted to be able to go all day without a smoke on these types of awareness days. I never thought I could go all day without smoking, therefore I didn't. It is nice to actually be able to say I didn't smoke on this day. It's more than nice ... it is wonderful! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Riverdale Man, Unfortunately the new law will only be for enclosed patios. (One with a roof or awning counts.) Still a huge stride! Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

Josie, Thanks. wasn't aware of this. In the UK, we have a National No Smoking Day. As a smoker I used to say (to my fellow smokers): "Okay, it's National No Smoking Day - think I'll light up a few more than usual to celebrate". Can you believe that I felt that threatened by a Health Group who only had my best interests at heart? Smoking causes Cancer, Heart Diseases, Respiratory Illness etc etc. In my case, add Stupidity to the list... Mr Ed :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 107 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,219 Amount Saved: 802.5 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 21 Mins: 27 Seconds: 44

Thanks Josie for the information. I agree with Riverdale Man, I am feeling like a typical ex-smoker, I don't want people smoking anywhere and just want to be able to enjoy the great smells that waft out of a restaurant kitchen, a patio with flower pots, a gentleman's cologne as he walks by, and the rain. YES you can smell rain! ENJOY the good air my non smoking friends. Thanks Josie! I also was unaware of this. And I too, Mr Ed, used to thumb my nose at these smoking awareness days as a threat to "my right to smoke". As a Torontonian I am really curious what the definition of an enclosed space is. Is it a fenced patio, is it a deck with an awning? I am so looking forward to being able to go out to eat and sit on a patio without sitting next to a smoker. I never thought I would be so hawkish and right now I am. Not so much that the smoke is tempting; but, that the smoke just plain stinks and I so enjoy the flavours aromas and just plain goodness of great food! AND WOW a whole day that is about bringing awareness about the dangers of tobacco and smoking. Bring it on! Peace Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 103 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,068 Amount Saved: $772.5 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 20 Mins: 31 Seconds: 11

I think every day should be
"World No Tobacco Day"
Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Riverdale man -- interesting segment on the CBC last night re: Quebec and Ontario finally having standard provincial no smoking laws instead of a variety of municipal by-laws. You will get your smoke free patio to enjoy! As for world no smoking day -- I can finally enjoy it instead of making rude comments to hide my shame of addiction. Amazing. I just read Josie's whole post. Ordinarily, I woulda "changed the channel" quick. Didn't want to hear about it, didn't want to look at my own behavior, didn't want to even think about what it would be like to go 24 hours. freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom!! yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Members, Tomorrow is "World No Tobacco Day" Universally recognized as a day in which we come together to raise awareness of the deadly tobacco products all over the world. We can start by celebration our success' and validating our quits, and know that we will no longer buy into the deadly disease that kills millions. The World Health Organization is urging all governments to help stop this madness. As citizens, we can recognize the severity and life taking abilities of this lethal product and help raise awareness by continuing our quits and being proud. Others will follow suit and this is our chance to lead them. Be proud of your quit and share the awareness :) The World Health Organization has its own tag line: TOBACCO, DEADLY IN ANY FORM OR DISGUISE Be proud!
