I didn't huff, nor did I puff....

.....nor did I cough while running for 20 minutes straight (doesn't include warm-up or cool-down) yesterday evening. And even though I used to work out before I quit, this was the first time in a long time that I went running again. I can't describe what a wonderfully liberating feeling it was to run without being afraid to cough out my lungs. Of course, my muscles are sore today, but who cares, my lungs are working! Yes! I was kidding myself that when I still smoked, working out would kind of even out the effects smoking had on my lungs. Boy, was I wrong! And, I could have run even longer, but was getting kind of dizzy because I had to use the inside track at the Y since it's too bloody cold outside to go running in the park. And the inside track isn't very big, so running in a tiny circle for 20 minutes really makes your head spin. Well, and then on my way home I passed by a restaurant where folks were outside smoking, and I inhaled some second hand smoke (yikes) after a great workout which kind of ruined the whole experience. And I used to light up right after working out, what on earth was I thinking? :quest: Gaby My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 449 Amount Saved: $170.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 30 Seconds: 14

You were thinking what we all were thinking..... Nothing ....... negative about smoking. We pushed all the bad stuff we KNEW about smoking to the back of our minds so we wouldn't have to deal with it all. It's great that you are running again. How freeing that must feel to you. Keep Strong Gaby, you're doing great! :)It's wonderful, isn't it, to once again engage in strenuous activity without feeling pooped. Just the best.....
