New Year´s Plans?

Interesting thoughts Jianna44!

I think letting go in favour of more openness and less stress is usually a good idea. Why limit yourself? Your thinking takes a lot of self insight - nice work!

I think it can be very challenging for many people to find friends they feel a strong connection with. I don't think there is anything wrong with knowing what you want and finding people you feel a genuine connection with. Do you consider yourself an introvert? Introverts are often very selective with their friends and that is A-ok in my books. However, no one person is perfect and no one person needs to fulfil all of your needs. Sometimes a certain friend can be really great at certain things and not so great for other things. Trying to see the best in everyone can really help in preventing us from being too selective. Also consider, many introverts take awhile to open up and share their true self - so don't cut people off too early. They may be struggling to build strong connections just like you are.

I'm curious. What makes this ideal friend so ideal for you? Examining this may give you a lot of insight.

Looking forward to reading your thoughts,

I am going to start my new years resolutions now. I want to actually improve my life in every way I can and not let my anxiety take power over me.

I think the most important thing for me, especially because of my anxiety, is to learn how to let go. I have noticed that even with newspapers, brochures, my son's graded homework and projects pile up because I do not want to let go of them.

It's hard to find somebody that I actually want to go out with and enjoy life. Unfortunately for me, my ideal friend is not available to do those things with me and there is nobody else that I feel is worth going out with. I can't just go out with anybody and have a good time. I need a special connection. If I do not have that, then I rather just be alone.

The ideal person I speak of, I need to let go of that person; however, I ask myself if I need to let go of the idea of that special person.

I have no plans for New Year's.  I really dislike going out to large gatherings and whatnot.  I'd much rather stay in with one or two close friends than be out at someone's party with a large number of people.  I also have to work a 12 hr day shift on New Year's Eve...so will have no energy to go out anyway......

I'm going to try to get out, but I don't really have friends, within the city. Being alone is something which I don't look forward to. I only plan one day at a time. There is family, so I can try to visit, since the older people are alone...and I am "older" now, but a younger type, without much enthusiasm, since mom passed...

Based on our Christmas successes/attempts, does anybody feel like sharing plans for New Year's outings/exposure? I know I felt much better going to a Christmas invitation. Events don't happen without planning, so I'm eager(not anxious) to get support here...
