Talk Therapy

It has always been difficult for me to admit that I need help and even more difficult to seek it.  Dispair inspired me to seek therapy in the first place.  I suppose HOPE kept me looking for a therapist that could actually help me.  Over time... it is the combination of therapies (meds, talk therapy, ECT, support groups, and education that actually seems to be working to keep me stable and productive.... at peace with myself and my world (most of the time).

I have been in talk therapy for 2 years and I found the benefits of this type of therapy very residual. I only started improving after beginning CBT 7 months ago. This does not mean that I quit talk therapy altogether and I arranged with my talk therapist to consult him only when I feel the need to (I do not have regular sessions now).
 
When I started talk therapy I didn't thought about the methods employed. I just wanted professional help to get better.

How many of you have tried or are currently seeking help through counselling or talk therapy to disclose your thoughts and feelings?  Do you find it helpful and useful?  Was it difficult for you to seek help initially?  If so, what influenced or inspired you to reach out and talk to someone?
