Karla,

You've recieved alot of great advice from members!  As Wildcat mentioned, take the time to go over the exercises as you will start to feel better as you progress through the activities.  How are you feeling today?  Keep us posted.

Hi Karla,

Each culture has it's beginning and it's end of time stories.  If you want a really good explanation Joseph Campbell is the man to read.  So with these stories in the chest of books there will always be someone who digs them up and points out their interpertations to meet their own ends.  The scholar will try to sell their books.  THe cult leader will gain more followers. The media will sell more papers or ad space. There is always a "take".

The heart of such stories, I THINK, is to help direct people towards a common cause.  Catholics it is towards heaven, the Vikings it was to be strong warriors in the dark ages, today's zen is to make us all calm efficient workers. In some ways these stories made those ancient leaders powerful! THey knew the future and were actively preparing their people for the hoorible future, which was a million times worse than this miserable today.  And life in the dark and middle ages on a farm was miserable due to a mini-ice age.

And as for today,  Karla,  the world continues.  The sun still lights the day and we all go on with our lives.   Have you had a chance to look over the tools here? Some might seem difficult but they are exercises and the more you do them, like a pleasant activity, the better the chances you have of beginning of starting to feel a bit.

Hey Karla,

The numb and flat feeling I got that from depression in the past. It passes, it really can, Just keep working the program, it helps! This too shall pass!

As for the end of the world, I also have heard of this so many times. It is alike a cruel running gag doomsayers have with the rest of the world. Just do your best not to pollute and all that and then ignore the rest!

hi karla - i have heard of this 2012 - very interesting! it is mayan or aztec origin - something about planets aligning or something and the end of the world. also the show x-files made a big storyline on it - they had aliens taking over in 2012. there are alot of cults and doomsayers. they've been predicting the end of the world for over 2000 years! nothing to worry about, just like y2k was nothing to worry about. it's just fun speculation. i'd go with the science, although who knows if they ever get that partical accelerator up and running, there is talk of mini blackholes escaping, growing and swallowing up the earth. i think all the conspiracy theories and stuff are a means of coping with a world outside of our control. try to see the humor in it! sheba is right on about getting an evaluation. that's the best thing you could do for yourself right now. sheba, i'm thinking the world will go on fine but we will become like borg- with implants and such. part human part machine - it's fun to wonder about this stuff, doesn't scare me at all - more to worry about driving on a busy road when you're tired or it's a blizzard or whatever - it's usually been behind the wheel i've had my biggest frights!

Hi Karla! Welcome!
To understud if it's depression or only a bad period you should talk with your doc or better with a psy. Just to have an evaluation.

As for the world.... Well over the years I've heard that the world could end in 2000, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2050 and so on. I'm serious.... anyway it's probable that the world will end as a desert planet in a 3 or 4 generation for what we are doing to it....

Karla,

These symptoms you are describing could in fact be part of your depression. Have you talked to your family physician about this?
Members, have you experienced feelings like these?

And as for the world ending...where did you hear that? Has anyone else heard this news?!
