Hi gocammando and welcome; I'm relatively new at this myself.  Started off in a big rush to do 16 sessions in 16 weeks.  Session 2 slowed me down - I realized the more I get from this the better off I am going to be.....I am so grateful I happened upon this site, so is my therapist and my psychiatrist.  and darn it all, I missed the magic wand too, but this program is close.  Great support, health educators, makes you think (I needed to do that again) and is progressively making me feel better!  a win-win situation for me and I hope others feel the same way!

Hi gocommando, Welcome to the group. Just remember to do your homework and don't try to be in too much of a rush.
We didn't get to be this way overnight so changing the way we think may take a bit of time. 
This is a great place to start a new life.

Welcome to the support group.  The program really does help and you can use it at your own pace.  It is great to find something that gives you hope of gaining some control over depression.  I don't really know where I'd be without this program or this support group, but I know it would not be somewhere good.

this program does really help, i'm taking it slow, concentrating on doing what doctor tells me to do, take my medications, and talk - be direct, ask for help, ask questions....i am finding that walking 2 miles every day really helps! am really trying to stick with these small things. have set a few goals, try for pleasant activities (it's hard for me to have fun). don't be petrified - be accepting. i think if you're depressed you're depressed 24/7 all day every day cause that is the brain we (?) I have. but you can lift it to tolerable levels by working on it. yeah, bummer, no magic wand

Welcome to the forums! This place is great and the program realy good. I am on week 6 and have found it super helpful and very insightful. I think realizing your the one responsible for making yourself better is your firts big step! Congratulations on that. That realization is the one that changed my life. I keep saying now: I am the knight in shining armor of my own story, not the damsel in distress..." I know corny but it works for me lol.
 
As for being quiet, we all have our little times of the day where we can come and post. One way or another, you will end up with some answers eventually. The support here is great if not always immediate! Hang in there! This too shall pass!

I am at the point now where i'm petrified by thought that i could feel like this for the rest of my life , especially when i know what the world has to offer....
 
I think to have belief and hope that you can and will get better and be able to spread your wings are just about all the encouragement anyone could need....

I have not been part of this program that long but just wanted to say the support is really brilliant. It is great just to know you are not the only person feeling lost and to have a step-by-step plan that involves making your own choices is really empowering. Hope this helps you as much as it has helped me so far. The biggest thing is that for the first time in months, I feel hope. All the best......
