Hi, Firecracker. If I was you I'd go see the colleague who is running that leadership mentoring programme right away and let her/him know that you need a volunteer mentor toute de suite! If anyone's in the know about such a need/requirement it's got to be her/him, no? Suggest the programme as a whole but make it a one-off need for you right now...

Thanks for the welcome! :) Daily Llama, the company does have a leadership guidance program and I was actually thinking of suggesting a mentoring program. I had a mentor at the last company I worked for and it was helpful. Josie, I do indeed plan to make use of the program and am hopeful that if I take things one day at a time, I'll start seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again everyone!!

Fire, Welcome to our support community! Take the time to look through the program and see all the knowledge and experience. Our program is free and can be beneficial in helping to progress and challenge those thoughts. Take it step by step and ask questions, we do know where you are coming from :) Josie, Health Educator

Hi, Firecracker. I know that feeling from a similar situation 20 years ago when I was in the aircraft industry. The answer was for me to find a mentor in the company to guide me and one who didn't feel threatened by my fast-tracking. It took a while to find someone who cared enough about product quality to take time away from their career ass-covering to teach me the history and the techniques necessary to do my job. (I opted out of that career path somewhat later than that juncture for health reasons.) Is this something that you can do - find a mentor in the corporation?? Patrick

Hi everyone, I've been battling feelings of anxiety for some time now and after feelings of panic that I felt today, I decided that enough is enough and I was going to do something about it. Long story short: I've been feeling like garbage ever since I started a new job less than one year ago. It was meant to be a promotion and I went into it with a lot of hope and optimism for the future. Due to many complicated (isn't it always) circumstances, I have ended up feeling very disillusioned and now I feel trapped. To leave would be a career limiting movement and jeopardize my future prospects. So, I realize that the answer is that I need to learn how to cope. I need to get that bounce in my step back. I want to be me again. Looking forward to the journey and supporting each of you through your own journeys.
