Want to say hi

Hi Shanelia. I'm new myself and have already found this board to be a tremendous help. The CBT program is just what I need now and the friendly support I find in the forums is a great comfort. I could relate when you said that you just ignored the depression, tried to pretend it was nothing. Almost everyone I know who has major depression does this. I guess we just hate the idea so much we avoid it as long as possible. :) Welcome!

Shanelia, Welcome to the Depression Center. Please start familiarizing yourself with the tools of the program and don't hesitate to ask questions and keep us posted on how you're doing. Danielle - Bilingual Health Educator

Thanks very much for the welcome and yes I needed to do something and get better I can not go on this way. Besides I am getting tired of smiling at work and pretending things are fine on the outside when my insides are full of turmoil.

Shanelia, You're already doing what is best for you as a person with MDD. You're going to see your doctor, maybe get a referral to a psychiatrist, taking the medications that the doctor prescribes and giving it time for them to kick in and relieve the worst of the pain of depression - and finally, coming to this site and talking to your fellow members and then working the cognitive behaviour therapy sessions which are essential to the usefulness of this site! Welcome again and keep talking and listening as the people on here are wonderful and brave and honest people...

Well I just found your site today and wish I had found it ages ago. 10 years ago I went through a severe depression but then after a couple years I was back to myself and have been for a long while. That is til about four months ago. I felt it coming back and tried to pretend it was nothing but I knew it was. I ignored it for so long but I can't anymore. The depression has come back and its affecting my work life and my day to day life so badly I am surprised I am still around. If it werent for my very good two best friends to talk with and who understand who knows. I made an appointment to go see my doctor next week and get some treatment started but was also looking for a place online that may help me out as well. This looks like a good place to be and I hope to get to know some people while here. :) Thanks for listening er reading. :)
