For the love of mike, there's more to it than a test. I have signed myself into a psychiatric treatment facility twice and out once heheh. Its not a whole lot different from a hotel stay if you get a good one. Except that instead of seeing the sights of the city, you see a doctor. Your luggage gets rummaged through and you can't have your own lighter or shoelaces. It is a bit unnerving at first, but as the day wears on you meet other people in the same boat and you can talk to them and to therapists and so forth and so on. If you live in Texas I recommend Glen Oaks in Greenville, TX. The doctors there are extraordinarily good and soooo helpful!
Jeanette,
Thank you for sharing your story. You have come to the right place! Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find our Depression Test.
This test is not a diagnostic tool and is not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.
If you have any question or concerns with our site or please contact Support Department at support@depressioncenter.net. We are open to any questions or concerns you may have.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Josie

Hi All,
I'm in the same situation as Meg right now, as I'm looking into "intensive outpatient" programs. Although I've suffered with depression for a long time (probably since childhood, although diagnosed just 6 years ago), I've never been hospitilized for it (even after a teenage suicide attempt! Good ole mom signed me out of the hospital before the psychiatrist got there). I've been resistent to any type of such treatment programs in the past, maybe because it makes it too "real", and I just wish it would go away--even though logically I realize that's not going to happen! Anyway, if anyone has any info/suggestions/experience with inpatient/outpatient treatment programs, please write in.
Thanks!
J

Hello, everyone. I'm new to the group and confused about what's going on with me. I've felt like I was depressed for a long time, but recently things have gotten a lot worse due to a very painful breakup I'm going through, which is bringing up abandonment issues from my past. I'm on medication and have been seeing a therapist for a year and a half, but I don't feel like anything is helping me.
I'm looking into inpatient psychiatric treatment, and I'm wondering if any of you have experienced that, or know anything about it it - what it entails, what kinds of things typically require it, etc.
Thanks a lot for your help!
M.
