Hi Dan. you are right. Sleep disturbance is common and insomnia leads to other problems. Talk to your doctor and get help for one or both. No reason why you can't get help for both at the same time. The behavior techniques for improving insomnia would be the same (sleep hygiene, activity scheduling). Any therapist who treats people with depresssion is used to helping people with sleep problems as well.
I think I may be depressed, but this is mostly due to the Insomnia I've been having for the past couple of years. I'm not sure if I have insomnia because of depression, or the other way around. I think If I where able to get a normal sleep schedule I would feel allright. So should I be seeking help for insomnia or depression?
