Addiction and the Internet

10 years ago 0 6252 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Like everything man lays his hand to he has found a way to make the internet destructive. Kept as an information tool it would have been fine but it is a toy, a very addictive toy costing time activity and money. Who can say they have not spent time on their computer that was ear marked for more important things. Who can shut down their computer and their cell phone for a week. Is this not addiction. Easier to give up coffee or cigarettes

Anybody feel addicted to the internet, as our glossary(Panic centre) defines addiction? preoccupation and compulsive use of an experience (food or gambling) or substance (alcohol or cocaine) despite the negative consequences. Often involves a loss of control and increasing tolerance for the substance. Not the same as dependence I see negative sides to overusing it, since I get sore hands, but it's definitely a powerful tool.
