breaking the walls of negative core belief

10 years ago 0 101 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi hugs4U,
Its always a good practice to challange the negative core beliefs on paper. Its beneficial for  long term.
I myself when compare to a normal person who goes to office in morning, face the challanges of work, gives output & crosses the hurdles.
Its not with me like this.I find myself difficult to face small challanges of life.Small hurdles tends to effect my normal life.
So I left everything that causes anxiety to me.Even my job because unable to cope up with work pressure & peoples behaviour towards me.
I don't know exactly whether I be able to become a normal person in my life.
Yet I fight anxiety & negativity with all resources available & with a hope to become a normal person one day.

Nice thread Rohit.

I also meditate twice daily, like Gailerina.

After I figured out my negative beliefs, I made new core beliefs, opposite to them.
At night, for each of my 3 new core beliefs, I write an example of the new one, re-enforcing each one as I go to bed.

An example would be "I am persevering".  I would like tonight, how I was persevering during the day.  Then I move onto the next new core belief, "I am likeable", and list an example.

Gailerina works with human resources, and probably has more insight into how people interview, and how it relates to this process somehow.

I know for job hunting I'd list situations, impact and response(I think I forgot something that starts with a "t" for the acronym "STAR").

When hiring, employers used to look for competencies, such as "persevering", so if I were looking for a job, I certainly have a long list of little acts showing each core belief.  The truth is, employers look for larger scale situations with complexity...

I didn't realize I had this goldmine of little situations and my Word document says it's 27 pages long, and over 3000 words.  Remember that it's done one day at a time, small steps at a time.  I started it on august 2011, so it's just a long Word wordprocessed document.

I feel better about writing this, since I often compare myself to others, and feel inadequate.

Gailerina,
Its difficult to change the personality which is by nature negative.
But always there is ray of hope.
My hope is to rebuild myself,to gain things again which I lost 1 yr back due to anxiety.
I saw small changes in myself and I feel gud about myself because I am on a right track now.
The feel to defeat my anxiety for success.

I believe breaking the walls takes times. As much as I wish that it could be done quicker.

I try to meditate with my bible or a bible devotionals. I know it does not work for everyone, but with everything going on the past few months for me, I came to my own conclusion how far from my faith I have drifted.

As a part of my CBT,I tried something new.I got some gud stuff of self motivation music & thoughts.Listening to a 15 min positive thought  guided by motivational music & deep meditation.
I was able to medidate for a long time.I hope this new experiment would defintitely help to break the walls of negative thought & core belief.
Pl share your other thoughts to break the walls of negative core belief
