Is your computer killing you.

I could barely send this email, after feeling nauseous, as I spent so much time at the computer today.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of stuff that needs to get done, and it's related to this new "boob" box.

Davit I get what you mean. I just happen to be one of those people that spends way to much time on line in supports groups and looking up stuff on line too..and I also have things I need to be doing besides being on the internet all day and could also be out doing my walks and various other things that would be way better for me than sitting here all day..
Like right now I was just going to look in on the site but not sign into the site or forum when I noticed I forgot to sign out so I signed in so that I could sign out..not wanting to appear to be signed in when I am not..So as you can see this computer internet is a problem for me and I am letting it control me and my life instead of me controlling it and how much time I spend on it..

Now back to what I was doing..Making copies of some of my medical records for my upcoming doctors visit next week..Actually I am getting the papers together and Edd is doing the copying for me..So I should not be here at all when there is still work to be done..Or I will not have a in the flesh person helping me, caring for me or enjoying and spending life with me here anymore..If you want to be with someone and share your life with them then you have to participate in your life together or you will not have a live together anymore. It's to easy to get caught up in other people and there lifes and before you know it you have forgotten about the people that were close to you and then the next thing you know they are gone..Sometimes they way away and sometimes they pass away..but the end results is the same you can not get them back once they are gone..

Signing out for now...Hopefully you will not see me signed in as much anymore and remember not to worry because it is a really good thing and it means I am making progress and enjoying my life off the computer again like I should be doing..

Enjoy the day everyone..

I'm afraid that the world's activities are machine-like, and the computer is another machine, with different functions.

It's scary since it can suck the life out of you by ramping you up into some dizzying circle of activity.  Sometimes I think I'm not talking to a person(who's too connected to his system), but robots, since people spend so much time just pecking keys, instead of being human to each other, or sharing our souls, emotions, fears, memories.

I have a great deal of respect for those who don't flash their wireless devices.

I'll bet, after Sunny's remark once that they are assistive devices, that the more somebody uses a computer, the less of person they are in some regard, because of some vacuum they're filling.

I have more respect for a homeless person panhandling than the jackass in an SUV causing traffic mayhem while they're on their phone.

Red and everyone, I'm not preaching abstinence but control. Like why am I on this thing now. I've done the dishes started soup and pulled some frost killed plants out of the flower bed. I need a break so I'm taking one, but you can see where my priority lies. And in a few minutes I will take a cup of tea and head back outside. My concern is not for the pre computer Generation, we have a choice. My concern is for the people that don't know you can do things without using a computer or a cell phone or any other electronic thing. There are people who can't do anything on there own without going to the computer first. This is fine but they stay there long after they have what they need and then feel bad. Some literally. Sore eyes, sore muscles, upset stomach, you name it. It is here. I mean we have to have laws to tell people not to talk and drive. People text and drive. If they are in an accident and have a cell phone their insurance will get their phone records to see if they were using it. No insurance if you were.
I'd just like to see more responsible use of computers and other tools. Before it becomes too late.

Going back to work, my break is over.

Davit...Yes it is!! Great incite and Post..I Totally Agree!!!

Yes the time has come to get up and get away for this dam thing and all of this Technology and start enjoying life and every day instead wasting our lives sitting here in front of these dam devices every day..We should be enjoying life just like everyone else does here..educators included. We do not have to promote this site or be the keepers of the gate here anymore..it's really not our job. We are members not employee's..So I say lets all start enjoying ours days every day from now on and stop in here when the mood strikes us from now on..There is so much life to enjoy and live once you get off this tangled web called the information super highway..and like hugs brought up we all have our emotional timetables and it is about time we started nurturing ourselves and get off this  Internet treadmill to nowhere and start enjoying each day. This idea of your is a great start...

You have inspired me and I am going to join you and make a statement by shutting this thing down and enjoying this beautiful day..

p.s.
Sorry I love my speaker phone and can not and will not give it up..LOL

Remember when TVs were called idiot boxes and you had to get up to change channels. Remember when you had to set time aside for your favourite show. Remember when you could cook and watch your favourite show at the same time.
Remember when mail came in an envelope and you had to hold the phone up to talk to someone.

There are some technological advances that I like but the computer is not always one. I like speaker phone because I can work and talk at the same time. I like Skype because I can talk to my friend in England. I like instant access to information. And I like sorting information without reams of paper to sift through.
I don't watch TV, it is an idiot box. Commercials and sitcoms are stressing. The news is all negative. There are tons of DVDs I can get from the library. I don't surf the net looking at mindless drivel just because it is there. But the computer does call to me. Like a child who needs attention. How much of your time is your computer wasting? How much do you regret wasting the time? How much do you hate going to town because it takes away from your computer time? And of course there is this, how much time do you spend eating in front of it? Does it own you? What are you missing out on so you can follow around this golden calf we have created for our destruction.
Today is a nice day, be damned if I'll sit in front of this thing. There is too much to enjoy.
Please try to keep it a tool as much as possible.

Davit
