All thought is based on memory so repeating positive thoughts loads memory with them. This way over time you build a positive base to use and positive core beliefs. For every negative thought and core there is a positive you can replace it with.

Hello Davit,
Hello Vincenza,
Meditation calms me & produces a strong positive feel from inside. But I am on a very early stage of meditation. But I do yoga & pranayam-breath relaxation technique. It has produces some very strong positive results in me which I realize now after practising it for 3-4 month regular. It has produced a feel of positive & hope. The feel of I CAN. The almost elimination of panic attacks & uncontrollable anxiety.Traces of panic are left which are negligble at this point of time or almost  not noticeableI am able to restore a level of confidence in me.
I would advice person suffering from depression to practice breath relaxation technique at least for 45 min early morning under a trainer initially.
I am relating to produce positive core belief thru pranayam & meditation.I really dont know whether I am in right direction.
What else can I do to produce positive core beliefs? CBT which I am doing with support of my family or any other option?

Hi rohit131,

You pose some very good questions for self-reflection.  Mindful meditation is a very powerful tool to use in a various situations.  As Davit said, it is important to focus on your positive attributes and focus on your personal and professional goals and not get stuck in past negative thoughts.
It sounds like you are at a point in life where you are ready for more challenges but fear reactions you have had in the past.
What advice would you give to someone else in a similar situation?  What strategies can you use or have you used that helped alleviate anxiety you've felt in the past?

Hi rohit

Of course meditation can help if what you are meditating on is not how bad you were. That is over. You have proved you can control the panic. Now for some exposure to see how well you can handle it without going all out. I would suggest working with elders on a volunteer basis since any job you take you will be dealing with Elders. They also have a lot of experience to offer. I find thinking on how I deal with other people sorts things out for me. I also find dealing with people to be a more potential source of stress than anything else I do but it can also be very calming depending on how I look at it. And that is the key, how I look at it and how I remember it. Meditating on a good experience is a very good way to lock it into memory. Technically this is building a positive core belief. But you can call it anything. Along with meditating on the good things in life has to come the ability to reject the bad things. I remember being told to assume the position and empty my mind. For someone not used to it the position is distracting and I couldn't empty my mind. That was when I discovered it never stops thinking. But what it is thinking is still my choice. Whether you think pictures of flowers or positive solutions to a problem doesn't matter as long as you don't think about bad situations. Covering up what bothers you with thoughts of flowers is as good as positive thoughts to a bad situation. It is all about memory. Mantras work this way. They cover what is bothering you so you don't think about it. And all thought comes from memory.
You though have more experience with meditation than I do. Does it calm you? Are you consistent and most important when you do it is it because you want to rather than as a tool? Doing it for any other reason is counter productive.

hello davit,
nice to see you in avatar.
well it is correct that money is one of the reasons which prompts me to take more challanges.I want to take challange but question is whether I be normal after taking challange. My past history reflects I tends to crash in challanging situation. So at present I am sitting quitely and doing job of teaching in small institute where I can make myself busy and also earn some money.
The thing is that I am now fear for more exposure.
But on other way I am trying my level best for more exposure;thinking that I have to attain success.
can meditation be helpful in this situation ?
just making an assumption and share of thought which just strikes me.
what do u think davit?

Hello rohit

You talk about needing money which means there is something you want. But I think what you really need is status to go with the money because without it who are you. Just another person in the crowd. I won't guess at what you want that needs this status but it is giving you performance anxiety. So the question is not whether you can do the work but are you seen as able to do the work. Can you shrug off criticism because you know what you are doing. At the same time can you accept it from someone who you need. There is only one way to get status and that is by being right and seen to be right. But you know in a big firm it is more important to be part of it first and noticed second. That way your status is secure. Who you are is more important than what you are. And to do this you need to be able to ride out the criticism.
What is not important is whether you can do the Job, you can, it is what you are trained for. It is whether you can do it the way they want it. The money will be the same, but in their eyes you will be a somebody. And that will cause some stress that will go away as you are accepted whereas it won't no matter how good you are if you are not. You may not get this acceptance the first place you try, it might take time. But look how far you have come. You have proved you can do the job, that means you are a somebody. Time to let the world know it.

Or am I wrong and the physical side of the better paying job is the problem? Is it too much work but you need it because you need the money? In that case all you can do is do it because you want to and nothing else matters.

Two entirely different situations.

hello davit,

Well to continue with our discussion on automatic reactions & core beliefs;I need some of your advices.
I have now learnt to react positively to a negative situations.I am now able to handle a situation in a positive manner without being much effort. It is because I am working in a field where I am expert and less level of challanges as I believe. My situation is well within control & I am quite normal. This is not because of any medicine but because of support ,therapy & join of work with less challanges.
Now I want to move myself to next level;where the system is big and more challanges;as I was previously in my job.
Now my fear is that will I be SUCCESSFUL in tough situations where challanges are more.I now fear of panic attacks & anxiety which I used to have in my previous job.
Because I need money so for that I have to take challanges.
Pl support to advice me.Shud I expose myself to more challanges or then what to do?
