Hello, my name is Twain and I?m a new nonsmoker

Hi Twain,

Welcome!  Congrats on deciding to quit.  I have appreciated all the support SCC has given to me in the past 18 days.  Read the old posts ~ there is some really valuable information stored away there.  I'm using NRT too and it seems to have been helping me overcome the habit of smoking.  In due time, I will be ready to say goodbye to the NRT.  One day at a time.

cheers

I dreamed a dream

Peteg, my husband and I actually disagree over the value of these dreams.  I feel so guilty when I have a smoking dream and so relieved when I wake up.  My husband, on the other hand, enjoys smoking dreams because it is a place that he can smoke without all the bad side effects (e.g. wake up smoke ffree, sheets won't smell or have burns in them.....).  I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

What?s a quit buddy?

Thanks for the responses.

Impalamania:  I like how you put it:  we are all buddies here at SSC.  I have used this site frequently over the past 18 days whether I am having a craving, needing advice or a laugh, bored, etc.

Peteg:  I would love to be quit buddies.  I could really use all the support I can get!  And, since we quit close in time (like Ron suggested) it would work well

November is Healthy Skin Month

The first week I actually felt like my skin got worse.  I started breaking out and was not a happy camper.  I like to think that my skin was detoxifying itself....

But, now my skin looks and feels great.  This is probably a combination of quitting smoking and drinking alot more water.

im doing it

Miss Betty,

The first few days for me were almost unbearable.   But it does pass.  I am on day 20 and my cravings are much farther apart and are over very quick.  During these times, I try to remind myself of why I wanted to quit in the first place, the benefits I am already noticing, and all the aspects I despised about smoking.

You can do this.  You are doing great!!  By the time your birthday comes, these symptoms will all be a distant memory.
