I am a non smoker

and have been for one whole day now. Yesterday was pretty easy. Today, I'm at the office, and several times I wanted one, but have pushed through. I have to do this - for me and for my family. I made my husband and I quit in 1992 as smokes were 6 bucks a pack - we can't afford that! He quit for 12 years, and I did for about a month. I continued to smoke behind his back, which kept my smoking to a minimum. He started smoking cigars a few years ago, and I started smoking openly. I lost him to a massive heart attack on May 29/06 and have been concentrating on getting myself back on my feet emotionally. Almost there.. but I really must take care of this little firey problem too. I thank you all for being there for me.. and for each other. How to use the IM

I've searched but am unable to find how to log into the IM and would appreciate any help. I don't see a "launch" button anywhere. I'm also not really sure how to post messages, although my previous one did get posted. The buttons under this window allows me to: Preview, Reply to Discussion, or Cancel and Return. I'll try Reply to discussion, even though this is a new discussion. Perhaps it's all this newly found oxygen in my system that's confusing me. How to use the IM

I discovered the problem, I think. I joined through thrive2quit.ca, so when I log in I am at a black screen with orange and white lettering - so no blue boxes. I did a search for stop smoking center and found the right site. BUT... when I tried to log in it does not recognize my email. When I tried to join it tells me their quota is done for the day and to join through one of the affiliates - thrive2quit.ca being one of them - but I've already joined through them. I'm so confused. Junkie Thinking

I cannot say how much this post meant to me last night. I was having a horrendous time, and I couldn't do things like go for a walk, or watch tv or go to bed because I was sitting in front of my computer working, and it had to be completed last night. My cravings were horrible, and I finally turned to this site and found this post just in time. After reading it I felt so much better and completed my work and off to bed at 11 with NOPE!!!! Thank you so much for being there.

If you having a tough time, try this

My son is being confirmed this year, and at a meeting I realized I really don't know much about the faith (I was a convert) so I am doing the reading the bible in a year program. It keeps my mind clear. I've also always wanted to play piano, sooo, with Christmas money my MIL gave me, I bought a keyboard and practice my finger exercises in front of the tv to keep my hands busy. Patti

i crave food!!

I've been "smoking" baby carrots, or popping grape tomatoes like crazy. When I went grocery shopping I made sure I bought only healthy foods so if I did want to eat, at least it would be good stuff. The other night I went through quite a few whole wheat tortillas with peanut butter. Perhaps the peanut butter wasn't great, but at least the tortillas were whole wheat. The way I see it ...

Fly, there is no magic potion, only hard work. I too am FAT and although I planned to do both at the same time, it ain't workin that way. I know from previous times I felt clean when I quit smoking and clean when I eat clean, and thought I could do both. I'm not giving up, but I'm also not beating myself up if I fail at the eating part. (hence the 8 peanut butter tortillas) I don't have any money either - but canned goods work great as weights - you can hold them, or tie them to your ankles to lift them as you're sitting. Do arm lifts all over the place to strenghen your arms. Try exercising your toes while sitting - flexing etc to strenghthen them - slowly. Once you get some weight off, walking will come. How about trying to see if you can get a exercise bike from a thrift shop for next to nothing. If not.. do anything you can while sitting or standing that moves your muscles and helps to build them up. My husband couldn't walk because he had no cartilidge left in his knees, but he researched all sorts of exercises he could do sitting (if only he had used them - he might still be alive). Add me to your buddy list.. i'd love to talk to you.. to anyone Good luck Patti My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 100 Amount Saved: $34.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 12 Mins: 26 Seconds: 14

Sharing my error

I screwed up this week. I didn't have a great day at work, and that evening I watched tv while my 13 yo son was on my computer. About 10 I came into my office and discovered he had gouged out part of the arm of my office chair (it's really small, but it's there). I blew up at him. Destroying my office furniture (there's scratches on my desk from before too), not cleaning his room... yada yada yada. I was really pissed and ran to my coat to grab one of the 3 cigs I had left in there and lit it up. He came into my office saying NOOOOO and I shooed him out. After a couple of horrid tasting puffs, I went to bed. The next morning I got up, made my tea, and came into my office where I was blown away. It was like something out of a movie where the woman is surprised by a room filled with roses. Scattered across my huge desk, on my chair and stuck to my monitor - every surface there is in here - were pages of paper with (written all over it in different sizes and shapes and directions) the word NOPE. It was overwhelming and I just stood there in awe crying about just how much this 13 year old kid got it and that he took the time to do all this. When I woke him up he said "try finding your cigs now!" I promised never to do that to him again and that I would deal with the cravings in other ways. Now I come back here and read read read.. and I still have all those notes.. they're right by my side to look at and read My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $102.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 11 Mins: 41 Seconds: 56

This Sucks.

I found that when I leave my patch on I have extremely vivid dreams and make sure I remove it before I go to bed. I forgot one evening last week and had a really ... well let's say it was a doozie!! Thing is I can remember the details of these dreams much more than others. I used to also have really bad nightmares too, which is the main reason I remove the patch. Just wanted to say thanks to all the great posts. I DO have wonderful children and he sure showed me. I am thankful to say that I have not done that to him again, as I promised him, and things seem to be going just fine now.
