I'm new here but not at quitting

Hi all! I am so happy to be where I am now, this site and in the 11th week of being an ex-smoker. I know now that my meager attempts at stopping were just half hearted trials that were destined for failure and frustration. What is different this time around? Well first off, I have gone more that 24hours without smoking, next, I have armed myself with something I did not realize was important, and that is REAL desire and education. I have spent as much time as I could researching and gathering all of the material I could get my hands on about nicotine recovery before I started my quit and during these past 11 weeks. That's how I found this site! I am in the last couple of weeks of taking Chantix. I am planning to stop at 12 weeks and felt I needed just a little more support so, I am happy to be here. I know from reading so many posting from this site and others, there will always be ex-smokers who have gone longer(yeay!!) and those who have gone less than me. With that, there is so much that I can learn and I hope, I can offer help, support and a few grins!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,160 Amount Saved: $345.60 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 6 Mins: 40 Seconds: 55

I'm new here but not at quitting

Thanks Lainey and Casey!! I am a dufus when it comes to computers. How do you get a cute icon up by your name?( A signature?) And, I did not see the prompt to put up my hobbies (not that I have any other than smoking in the old days!!). I really am having more fun at being a ex-smoker than being a smoker. Both have challenges but, as an ex-smoker, in order to stay that way, I have to find new things to keep me busy. New challenges and that is certainly not boring. Boredom seems to be my smoking trigger. love being the real me now!! I'm new here but not at quitting

thank you all for the warm welcome. I really do feel at home here. I am DONE with smoking. I will keep getting educated and motivated to stay quit. I will bring all that I can to the forum and look forward to all that you all will bring. I am still a dunce, can not figure how to bring in a cute picture, but, while trying, I did not once think of smoking!! advice????

Just buy a new car! You will really feel terrible if you ruin that new car smell ;) actually, I did stop smoking in (any) cars several years ago because I had bought a new car.Although I kept myself from smoking in the car,I continued to smoke wherever else I could. I still had cravings in the worst way in the beginning. I managed the cravings by keeping a very cold bottle of water with me and when I had them available, a big ole crunchy apple.I also fell in love with wasabi peas. They are hot, crunchy, low fat & calories and kind of have a smokey taste. They have been my best friend during this total quit. Dream, you are doing great by educating yourself.Knowledge is a powerful tool against this addiction. You are asking all of the right questions and these guys here are offering great advice! I am so happy to have their support. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,190 Amount Saved: $350.40 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 8 Mins: 21 Seconds: 55

Today's The Day

Awsome Need2quit! You are going to look back on this day and be so thankful that you have quit. You will be feeling so much better both, mentally and physically, in a very short time. Be sure to do something special for youself that does not involve smoking. You've earned it!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,190 Amount Saved: $350.40 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 8 Mins: 32 Seconds: 41

I'm new here but not at quitting

Thanks Tresa for your concern! I am here with you all and doing great. I have been peeking around this site, trying to get familiar with every thing and reading, reading and reading all I can. What a great support group and so much information!! I am so happy I found this site. I was able to get my personal info up. Still working on getting a picture up. I went to a cooking class/dinner with my husband last night. It lasted 3+ hours. I had a blast. Would have never been able to sit that long and enjoy myself in the old smokey days! Dang I love doing new things and testing out the ex-smoker in me!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,220 Amount Saved: $355.20 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 10 Mins: 48 Seconds: 10

Today's The Day

Congratulation! You did it!! A day to remember Huh? Don't ever forget how much courage you have and how much strength you have. When you have those cravings, think back on these early days and ask youself, do I really want to be back here again? Start out again at ground zero? None of us do! Stay quit! You can do it! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,220 Amount Saved: $355.20 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 11 Mins: 0 Seconds: 27

New chantix quitters

Way to go Lori!! 4 days and early too ? that is HUGE, I was such a baby that I held out not quitting until the very end (or start) of my quit date. I took Chantix and yes, it did give me the confidence to totally stop and now, stay quit. It is not a miracle drug, you will still feel cravings, urges and emotional swings. Arm youself with as much information on quitting as you can. Go thru the program here, it really is very helpful. Get yourself some support buddies in your life and know that you also have them here. Never, never let your guards down, temptation is every where and even chantix can't combat everything. Your best defense is being prepared, informed and educated.I am about to wean myself off of the Chantix, it has been 11 weeks. I am ready and am thankful that I have come this far :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,220 Amount Saved: $355.20 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 11 Mins: 32 Seconds: 50

I'm new here but not at quitting

thanks Sue, if the NC in your name means the state, we are very close geographicly. You will know the Queen city, the carolina panthers and capital, raleigh ? too funny, that NC was/is a huge farming state for tobacco thanks for the words of encouragement, I can never get too much! I am confident but, not too cocky!! there have been those that have quit longer than me that have relapsed, why? don't know, but I want to be where you are at 150+ days, way to go!! let's go for NOPE!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,220 Amount Saved: $355.20 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 11 Mins: 45 Seconds: 14
