Thank you all for the well wishes! I am feeling pretty proud of myself. My husband is so proud of me and what tickles me to no end, is that my son is proud of me. Quite a few extra bonuses come with quitting!!
Now, the bad news, it looks like my special 100 day reward will be a root canal. OUCHIE!!! Just got out of the dentist's office. :gasp:
Oh well, I'll get thru this and I'll still be smoke free !!
loving my beach trip!!

I would be cheating myself out of living a life of true quality. I would be disappointing myself and I would be disappointing my loved ones.
I am so much happier now that I am nonsmoker!!

Hi there Blue Cloud!
I am a July 07 quitter. And I am still a nonsmoker!
I actually quit on 7/21/07 but I did not join the SSC until 10/01/07. That was really bad timing on my part because I went through some very tough times in the beginning and had to face them all on my own. I feel very fortunate that I did eventually find this site and have learned so much from you all. It feels good to belong to a group that I have so much in common with.
Hope we find some more July quitters!!
:) Gwen

Hey Bear,
when we were smokers, did we not loose all sense of temperature? It could be -20 and we could justify standing out and smoking, and even saying, is it not nice and brisk out? Could we not, as smokers, convince ourselves and those around us that it was a healthy thing to stand out in the elements and take in fresh air (have a smoke!)? I love not smoking now and I do not miss having to hang out and torture myself in inclimate weather.
Go for it Bear if you wish to be part of the Polar Club. I would love to see pictures!! But, as non smokers, we can now hang out in the comfort of the indoors all we want and only go out to gather fire wood!!

Hang in there Sally,
you are doing just fine. Instead of acting on the urge, you are looking for other alternatives. Go girl!! Love Unhooked's analogy of the football and she is right, that junkie will pull up and leave you without any ground. you have gone 18 days Wow !! that is Great. don't give that up!! You are going to find that it is easier to be a non smoker than it is to be a smoker.
just take it one day at a time. You can do it!
go get yourself something oooyie from the fridge, frozen fruit pops worked for me. and congratulate yourself for getting thorough the holidays smoke free!!
take care!

Hi Bibbles,
You really sound good! Keep up that attitude, it is half the battle. It does get easier as everyone says. Otherwise we would all not be here. I do have to say in my newest discoveries, I have found that it is easier to be a non smoker than being a smoker. So, please know that after this first week, you have sooooooooooooo much to look forward to. And you will be so happy that you have done this for yourself!
Hang in there and stay tough for youself!!
Here when you need me,
G
