Hey everyone...

Hi everyone. I am officially a non-smoker. I've been taking Chantix all week, and today is my quit date. But gosh..its been a REALLY tough hour. My hubby smokes, and though we don't smoke in our house, when he went outside this morning I wanted to go out there too SO badly. But anyway...I really hope that the rest of the day gets better. This is really really hard but I want to quit this time. I'm really excited to be a non-smoker! And I'm glad to be here :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 35 Seconds: 37

Wow...day 1 is almost over...

Ok..so its been the first day. WOW ...its been hard. I really hope that it gets easier. The one thing that I can say is that yesterday may have been more frustrating even though I was smoking. The Chantix was driving me nuts because I felt like I wanted to smoke, but when I did it felt like I hadn't smoked and didn't satisfy any craving. At least today I wasn't frustrated because I expected to have the cravings and all of the other assorted nastiness that comes with quitting. A part of me is starting to feel really angry. Angry at the cigarettes, look what they are doing. My god, you don't realize the effects that they have on your life until you quit. In 5 hours it will be 24 hours since my last cigarette. Is it normal to feel really tired? I feel exhausted today (totally unlike me)...did anyone else feel like that? Wow...day 1 is almost over...

I just want to say thank you so much for the overwhelming support that you guys give. It absolutely made my day to write that post, take my son to the park, and come home to find such awesome cheerleaders supporting me. Wow. Thanks you!!! Wow...day 1 is almost over...

Wow. Day 2 was absolute hell. Today I worked from 9-5 and wow..I thought the day would never end. I can't really describe it but today just felt really really sad. All day I fought the urge to cry even though nothing was really wrong. (Which is quite an occupational hazard given that I'm a rape crisis counselor!) Is this normal...to just feel overwhelming sadness and despair for no apparent reason? Wow...day 1 is almost over...

I called the Chantix cravings hotline earlier. What an incredible waste of time. Seriously, the only thing that the guy kept telling me to do was to eat celery and carrot sticks. Its like seriously, I just told you that I have been sitting on my bathroom floor crying 'the ugly cry' for about an hour...its gone WAY past vegetables buddy! I can't stop crying and I feel so depressed! I can't believe that cigarettes have this much control over me! My 2 year old walked into the bathroom and started crying with me. It made me feel terrible that I made him sad (I am NEVER EVER like this...I can't remember the last time that I cried before today!). I have to get ahold of myself. How much longer will I feel like this? Smoking never made me sad before..I keep wondering if its worth it?!!! p.s...I'm sorry if I'm posting too much... Wow...day 1 is almost over...

Wow guys. Thank you so much for your support. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have such empathetic and truly sincere support. Day 3 was SOOO much easier than yesterday. Its strange. I don't feel quite as sad and though certainly its been a struggle...I didn't feel 1/4 as bad as I did yesterday. This weekend is going to be tough, I'm in my friends wedding and I have to make sure that I have no more than maybe 2 drinks tops. I don't want to have to go through this again!!!! But thanks so much everyone! You guys are so wonderful! P.S...anyone know anything about drinking while taking Chantix? The pharmacist said that its ok..but it makes me kind of nervous... l have a question..

are you also taking Chantix? I have that the first days before I quit I felt the same way. I've also read that cutting back, even changing from full flavor to light cigarettes can cause withdrawl symptoms. Best of luck. The people here are so wonderful and supportive! Wow...day 1 is almost over...

There's a HUGE difference between enjoying a champagne toast and a glass of wine at a wedding and getting hammered...I don't ever drink to intoxication, and I rarely smoke when I drink..given that all bars, etc are smoke free here. Which is now a blessing I guess..rather than the curse that it was:-) I understand the link between nicotine and alcohol and I plan to guard myself very closely...I was more concerned with drinking while taking a psychotropic medication...even with just 1 or 2 drinks... Thanks so much for your concern everyone...~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 80 Amount Saved: $18.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 17 Seconds: 11

Wow...day 1 is almost over...

Thanks so much guys! Day 2 was so horrible, but day 3 was a lot better and Day 5 has been the best yet. I feel so much more positive about quitting. I did a little shopping today, and tomorrow I'm going to get my hair done. I'm taking it slow..and have started taking "fresh air" breaks at work with a co-worker..rather then smoke breaks. As soon as people start to go to the smoke room, my friend and i walk towards the front door and take a stroll around the block. It sounds silly..but it really makes me feel SO good about myself that I'm doing this. I'm so proud that I no longer have to worry about whether or not I smell when talking to clients. I LOVE that I don't have to worry about whether or not I put cigarettes in my purse..and I don't have to pull over the car to look for a lighter. My mornings are so much less stressful now that I"m not wasting 20 minutes on my porch smoking. And this morning I woke up and didn't cough at all! Wasn't even croaky! How awesome!!! Wow...day 1 is almost over...

Hey guys...Sooo I had a slip up. I smoked 3 cigarettes on Saturday night. I barely remember doing it. I feel really bad:-( But the good news is that on Sunday when I woke up I didn't feel like smoking, and haven't even come close to slipping since then. But I wanted to confess that I did that. Do I change my quit meter to say 3 days now? and anyone know how I do that. I don't deserve the stats that are at the bottom of this post.
