Well...hell...

I slipped up on Friday and boy did I pay a price Friday night. Went to dinner with the family, sitting there talking and laughing. I started coughing....hard. You know the kind of cough where you cannot catch a breath? Sitting right there at the table, I blacked out!! I can remember everything, even my wife asking me if I was alright! I HAVE TO QUIT DOING THIS TO MYSELF!!!! What is wrong with a person when he knows what he is doing is going to hurt him and he does it anyway? Addiction! That is what it is! I have to stop and I have to stop NOW!! So, here I am again, trying to quit again. I feel horrible.

Day 1 all over again

I hate day one. Day one sucks. But this is going to be my last day one! I started chewing tobacco 30 years ago, then started smoking a few years after that. Finally stopped smoking and focused on smokeless tobacco for a long time. In July of last year, I kicked the can to the curb, but went back to smoking. Now my asthma has reared it's ugly head and I am having a lot of trouble breathing at night. I have tried at least 10 times to quit, but never with this much resolve. So...here I am, back at day one all over again! Only this time...it's personal!!

Day 2

I am going cold turkey. I guess it's a pride thing! I watched my grandfather smoke 2.5 packs of Lucky Strikes a day for at least 18 years of my life. He told me one time that he had smoked for 50 years and he just threw them down one day and said "enough is enough". I always admired him for that. So, that is how I am trying to do it. And I will! I know I am not him and that I never will be...but this is the way I choose to do it. I just have to keep in mind that if he can do it, so can I. I have one thing that he didn't....faith! Faith that my heavenly father can do anything and he WILL help me get through this! Sorry if I got all corny on ya, just typing my thoughts! Day 2

Well...this hurts! The fog has already set in and I cannot concentrate on anything except how bad I want a smoke. Been chewing the hell out of stir sticks! I have to beat this thing! Prayer

I cannot whip the nicdemon without His help.... 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. Psalm 91 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling even the LORD, who is my refuge- 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation." Addiction is...

Addiction is smoking a cigarette and immediately using your inhaler so you (I) can breathe better. Leg and smoking update III

Hyptonism not working for ya sparky? The patch not cutting it? Now hooked on the gum? Well, if you really want to quit smoking, then call our operators now! At our clinic, here is what will happen. One of our operators will break your leg. It's just that easy! Now...we aren't talking about a compound fracture or anything like that, just a nice little fracture of the fibula just above the ankle. What this does is take away your desire to smoke by making it too freakin hard to "step outside for a moment". It really works. So call our operators, Guido, Knuckles, Crash or Icepick now and schedule your appointment. And remember, I'm not just the president of the company...I'm also a client! Seriously...I am working day 11 of no smokes, and I really don't want one. Craves are minimal right now. I do not want to make light of the fight that we are in, but with the pain meds...I just had to do something! The leg...well...to be honest...HURTS!!! But I did a full day at work yesterday and may have overdone it a little. Gonna try to do a full day today also. Thanks for all the kind words and I will keep checking in My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 209 Amount Saved: $45 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 15 Mins: 0 Seconds: 4

Well, I got my wakeup call..

I will be. My pride is really hurting right now, not to mention my leg. I'm telling everyone that I did it during my Ultimate Fighting Motorcross Stock Car racing practice.

Final leg update, but not final smoking update!

Well...whether you want it or not...you are going to get a leg update. Went to the doc today and she said that the bone has completely healed and that I can begin to ween myself off my crutches. I had to ask for her definition of ween because I was sure we would differ on the matter. She asked me what my definition was and I told her that I would be leaving the crutches in her office. She told me to take them with me but I didn't need to use them if I didn't want to. Just make sure to keep them handy to give the foot and leg a rest. Have to wear the walking cast for about another week though. This is OUTSTANDING because now I can go out standing if I want to!! This is OUTSTANDING because now I can go out standing if I want to!! On the smoking front....nothing happening there. Still have had 0 smokes since Mar 23rd!
