Thank you mercy, I found your post to be very helpful. And the last tidbit "quitting is easier than dying" hit me right in the face. I think as smokers we tend to think about that a lot, because if you continue to smoke that is the only thing that will come out of it. I am going to remember that saying tomorrow and probably several days after that when I have those weak moments.

I know I should be taking it easy at first. But, I was thinking .... if I could replace one addiction with a healthy addiction (running for instance) it might be easier.....

Well, I've been up since 515 this morning and no cigarette so far! Have had a few tense moments but I am handling okay so far. Brought a patch with me to work just in case. Will be checking in often....

Just had a snack, just need to post thru this craving... Trying to breathe and think about something else. Still not wearing the patch, and haven't smoked since 930 last night. I know this seems so silly probably compared to the people that haven't smoked in months, but i think this first day was a hurdle and I'm doing better than I thought I would. I know the 2nd week will be a doozy too. Just glad to have the support.

THANKS MOSS!!!
I WILL NOT GO TO THE STORE AND RUIN MY QUIT BEFORE IT GETS STARTED.
I WILL NOT GO DOWN TO THE SMOKING OFFICE TO BUM A CIGARETTE.
MY LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS TO WASTE ON A NASTY CIGARETTE,
QUITTING IS EASIER THAN DYING.....
I LOVE MYSELF AS A NON SMOKER, I DON'T STINK, I CAN BREATHE, I AM STRONG, AND I AM A QUITTER.
I AM PUTTING MY BODY IN CHECK! NO MORE NICOTINE!!! GET USED TO IT!! :eg:

Thank yall so much!! It really, really helps to have responses to my ramblings during a craving. It makes it easier knowing you are not alone in this battle. For the moment , I am much better and not having to talk to myself as much. Good thing because I'm at work and people are starting to give me the eye! LOL

Thanks Freedom,
I've never really liked running before, but probably because we were always made to run in school and it wasn't done in an enjoyable atmosphere (not trying to bring bad memories back to any of you, but i'm sure i just did! lol) But, I think I could really enjoy it. And I did take yall's advice and just walked this morning, but added some time to it to make up for the lack of running. I found a program online that helps you get started on a running program and supposedly if you follow this you should be up to running 3 miles minimum in 8 weeks. So, that is my goal, although I will be taking it a little slower at first. Are you running that much Freedom?
Thanks for the encouragement guys!
