question

I read somewhere that smoking makes people lethargic. Is this true? Has anyone found this to be true for themselves since they have quit? Just curious.....

It's now or Ever be mine Tonight - Must be one of his

This message was written to me, and I must be honest and confess I don't really understand it..... Not sure I understand when you say smokers really don't think about smoking...I think about smoking every day..... If it is rare to seriously think about quitting, then I must be rare, because I am thinking of it...... But, here is the part that I did not really understand.....My drift is something or someone, namely your mind and body are letting you know that they do not want you to go down this path. Recognized this sign as a gift and do not turn a deaf ear to it. If you could clarify then it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for not understanding......

Is it normal?

Is it normal to be nervous about an upcoming quit? I have been thinking about quitting for a few weeks now, done some reading on here, and read a book on quitting smoking......and I know this is the nic talking, but I have put off the quit, cause this weekend I am going out of town to my Brother in law's band's 3rd cd release party....and I know I will be around a lot of smokers then, and there will be lots of alcohol flowing of course....and I kept teling myself, I do not want to be drinking and surrounded by all these smokers and craving one myself.....Gotta be honest and say that for the last week or so, I have not enjoyed the cigarettes...Then of course the nic talks and says well, after this weekend, you have this going on...you will be around a lot of smokers then etc....... I know it is only the nicotine talking and trying to prolong me quitting...... I am nervous about this weekend, cause I told myself that after this is over that I will quit....is it normal for me to be nervous about quitting? I am sck and tired of being controlled by it, but it is a crutch to lean on.......Why did I ever have to start 17 years ago!!!???? I wouldn't be going through this if I had never started.............

to quit or not to quit..that is the question

Thank you all for your kind words. It certainly has reminded me how truly supporting this site is.....I know when I had quit last time, this website helped me through many difficult times. Everyone's advice here is awesome, but one thing that really kind of hit home with me is when Lou wrote: Besides, eventually you will have to anyways, one way or another it will get you, so you might as well beat the nicodemon to it. I guess it made me realize that if i continue, something / somehow will happen sometime that I will have to quit..... I have been coming back here the past couple days and reading more and more.....I gotta be honest and say that the more I read, the more it makes me think...... I will keep you all posted. Thank you all again for your wonderful advice and supportive comments.

to quit or not to quit..that is the question

Hello all, I used to go to this website a long time ago.....I am still smoking, but the last time I quit, I had 1 full year in before I started again.....when I started smoking again, I have said all along, that I will quit again someday....And I have always beleived that....i just have not done it yet..... But, I am starting to think about it again...... I do miss the feeling of being in control...not having the blessed cigarettes control my every move, making sure I have enough when I go out, or having to stop at the store, or having one last quick one before going in somewhere....i could go on and on about how it controls.....everyone here already knows how it does....... Really not sure why I am here tonight and writing this.....I have always kept this website in my favorites list and I just decided to come and read tonight...... One thing I did read tonight that caught my eye is that if someone quits and stays quit before the age of 35 their chance of getting lung cancer is equivalent of someone who has never smoked....that is interesting.....I am 28 right now, will be 29 in August.... I have tried to quit countless times, and as I wrote above, the last time, and the longest time i have ever quit, was that one full year..... i guess a part of me wants to quit to save money, and because i am tired of being controlled.....but another part of me does not want to quit right now......To quit or not to quit, that is the question.

Quit Day

After much procrastinating, I have set my quit day for July 1. The closer we get to that day the more nervous I am getting......And of course the old nicotine monster keeps trying to come up with different reasons why I should not quit on July 1. Trying to do my best not to listen to him........ I know I will be coming here often for support and to vent when I am in my quit. This is not my first time using this site......
