Newbie here.

Hello TNGirl ,
I am known as Gadget044 on here / or Billy H . KyGuy here . I am on day 446 . the 20th of this month will make a year and 3 months for me . I want to encourage you to not give up . I smoked for 35 years and then quit cold turkey . I just made a choice that nothing was going to stop me from reaching my goal . You can do it to , and it does get easier . I am at the point I don't even have cravings any more or they are so far between each that I can't remember when the last one was . Something that helped me was to find a healthy snack , I used peanuts and whenever i wanted a smoke , i would eat a few peanuts . i did that for the first couple months . I can tell you i feel so much better and can breath easy now . You just have to keep telling yourself you are the one in control and dont give up . You can do this . and you have a new life awaiting .  Keep on keeping on Gadget044 /Billy H

 Hello TNGirl
Sounds like you are off to a great start and it will keep getting easier each day .The crafts project is a awesome ideal to give your hands something to hold . I held a pencil for a while . another thing i found helpful was to set goals . like a month mark , then 3 months , 6 months and so on . reward yourself at each goal . maybe a dinner out , or new pair of shoes . anything to mark the goal . I can't describe to you the feeling you will get when you reach that 1 year mark . I felt so many things , free , healthy , in control of my own life . breathing easy . keep up the good work and you can make it . I will be cheering for you :) Billy H . P.S congrats of making one of the best choices you could ever make . on quitting .

Update

Hello everyone ,

Just wanted to stop in and encourage everyone not to give up . Today marks 1 year and 4 months for me . That is 486 days of freedom from a habit that was doing it's best to rob me of life and it's goal was to kill me . Yes I will still die oneday , but I don't need to rush it up any . My friends since i quit smoking I can breath better than I have in years . yes i smoked 35 years , crazy I know . Food taste total different , much much better . How I did it , From day one I never once said i was quitting . I always said i quit . was no trying , did not give myself room to fail . To help me i bought some peanuts as a snack , when a craving came , I would eat a few nuts one at a time till it was gone . Now I am at the point that I can't remember the last craving I had . Months ago . My home , my truck no long smell like a ash tray . There is no down side to stop smoking , unless you just enjoy standing out in the freezing cold or pouring rain to kill yourself in slow motion . Cigs do nothing except rob us of life , our money , and people we love . My friends not here to preach to you . I am here to say look it can be done . believe you can is half the battle and believe me it gets much easier as time goes by .
