Carrie, keep taking it one day at a time!  Look how far you've come so far!  As for your sister, I vote that you insist that she doesn't smoke around you!  And have her keep her smokes in her car!  Put up a brick wall if you need!  Just think, tomorrow is day 7!!!

You will be fine. Just thank God that you can decide If yousmoke or not. Your sister can't. She has to smoke. Her addiction makes her smoke. And you are free now.
Keep kicking ash!!

Haha!  Karen...bizarre is the right word for it!  Today is the first day my brain has allowed me to get ANY work done!  It has felt like somebody gave my brain a shot of novacaine..thankfully the neurons are starting to fire again!

Wow, I was just looking at those who posted on this thread (6 people), and amazed by how many days of life have been added and how much money saved!  Amazing!!!!

I will be faced with a challenge tonight.  My sister, who smokes, will be here with her 4 children.  Houseful of children plus a pak of cigs within reach...bad combo.  BUT...I'm feeling incredibly determined and not fearful at all that I would be tempted...so it's going well!!!

Carrie your first week is almost over, and as any ex smoker knows that is one heck of an achievement. Also, as everyone has said it does get a little easier as the days mount up and none of us ever really want to do those first bizarre days again- so keep up the good work, you are doing such a great job.

Hi Carrie,
Welcome to the SSC! My motto is,"The worst first." You are one day away from getting through "the worst" phase of quiting! The farther away you get from your last smoke the less you will want to go back. This is a new found freedom we are all working towards today!
 Hang in there!

Carrie,

Take heart from this Camus quote:-

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer."

You are doing well, just keep going.
Good Luck

Just want to say thank you to everyone and for this site for helping me be successful this week with my quit!
It's been rough, but always nice to be able to come onto this site each time I feel weak, and see that others are right there with me, or have been and are ready to lend a word of encouragement!  So thanks to all you wonderful people out there!
(Day 6 and still struggling with major tension and anxiety, but haven't caved, and don't plan to!!) N.O.P.E!!!
