Hey Wilikem!!!

I'm late, but I wanted to congratulate you on your decision to quit!  You can do this... just take it one minute and one day at a time!  Reward yourself often to keep that nico-demon at bay!

Welcome to the team, Wil...I quit 11 days ago...and I'm surviving! I chose to not use a nicotine replacement this time and it's working out OK. When that niggling little urge sneaks on me (and oh, it does, although less each day) I look around for a non-smoker in the area and think...'well that person can function without a smoke, guess I can too!' Then I think about people I know really well who don't smoke and well, before you know it, the urge has passed...Hey, you'll find that thing that works for YOU!.....come back and keep us posted on your progress......

Welcome W!!!

All I can say--that no matter how bad it seems--you gotta believe it will get easier. (Or us oldtimers wouldn't still be free)...

Take one day. one hour or minute at a time. It does get easier, I promise. It's so worth the initial hardships.

Read as much as you can on this site..there is so much wisdom.

Welcome Wilmikem!!
Grab your ice water and read and post as much as needed.
Taking 5 consecutive deep breaths helps a lot.
Hot showers and long walks help too!
You are going trough the hardest part of the process. It does get better!!!!

Wilmikem, Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking and welcome to the SSC!  Stay close to his site if things get really tough!  Post and wait for 5 responses before you light up as the craving will be gone by then.  Drink tons of iced water to help with cravings!  I recommend setting up your quit meter and add it to your posts from "my profile" so you can see your numbers add up!  We're all rooting for your success!
