Day before the big quit!

Hi Sally, I have tried to quit several times also , but I want this to be my last. One of ther things that helps me is to take a nice long bath then put some really nice smelling lotion on, brush my teeth. I actually feel and smell clean and not like cigs. Lamplighter, Congrats on your quit today. I know you can do it. I'm rooting for the both of you. Hey Sally, Sounds like you are ready and you've gotten some great advice! The only thing I can add is to maybe think of a reward for the end of your first day - something to do instead of that end-of-day-drink-and-fag. Maybe a bubble bath with candles, a movie or a cup of tea? Sometimes it's when you stop being busy that time seems to stop. If you have some things planned you can fall back on them without having to do so much thinking. One hour at a time - that's how we all did it! Good job Sccally, you are prepared! The first day is rough, the second may be a little rougher, but you can get through it. It's hard not to think about those cigs you aren't smoking, but just take it slowly, hour by hour, minute by minute, and please, don't smoke. Let us know how the first day goes. And don't have any cigs around that you can see, smell, or smoke. Throw them all away! Nance PS Throw them ALL away. Keeping a couple "just in case" isn't a good idea. They will scream your name until you get rid of them. Thanks everyone, just knowing people are out there makes me feel better already. I've just been and bought some carrot sticks, and I have everything I need for tomorrow - no excuses! I think counting time off will help after a day or two - counting off hours will only make time go slower. However I love the idea of sleeping, the weekend's coming up and I will happily give away a day or two to add years in the long term! Big day at work tomorrow but an exciting one, then off to uni tomorrow night - a busy day but avoiding the 'oh, I'm home I'll have a big drink and a fag' - so I've picked the right day. Sccally I think planning is key to success, especially during the first few days. Have you had a chance to do some of the things over there on the left? Have your strategies ready. I spent a lot of time on this site in my earliest days...helped to pass the time with people who had faced the same challenges. Tons of support. Also, I used some substitutes...water, a fake cigarette holder, spoonfuls of mostly good food. I think other people use carrot sticks and the like. Also, if you can sleep, that helps...walks, movies, whatever will let you forget about it for a bit. Also, you could think of the time paqssing as good thing...e.g., I have been smoke free for an hour, I have been smokefree for 6 hours. It is a good thing...getting healthier each minute you don't smoke. Alrighty, lightshines..I've been waiting for this day. Read and post often..we're all behind you 100%. Just remember N.O.P.E. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,800 Amount Saved: $476.00 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 18 Mins: 13 Seconds: 30

I was scared and excited too! Right now, I'm at the point where I am finally walking out of the house and not feeling like I forgot something. I am amazed at my will power because I had none with my other quits. You guys can do this! Any smoker can do it if they just put their minds to it... and if I can do it, YOU can do it too! It's funny because I can see myself as a non-smoking person and the other night I had a nightmare... lighting up and taking a drag and butting it out so I didn't get caught! Weird stuff I tell ya! Work through the program on the left! Very informative info there and without it, I honestly don't know if I could have come this far without it and this site! Congratulations to the both of you for wanting to QUIT! You have to want to QUIT more than you want to SMOKE! Good Luck to the both of you and stay positive! It helps alot! Hi Sally, my quit date is June 1 also. But you're actually a day ahead of me in Australia. :) Good luck to you! I'm scared and excited too. Hi my name is Sally, tomorrow is the big day - I refuse to quit on anti tobacco day as I feel it is very condescending to smokers - I'm scared but excited. I just want all this to be over! By that I mean I would like to magically wake up in a week and go - yeah! I did it. Every other time I have tried to quit time has seemed to stop, how do other people cope with this?
