Hi Lilly - I'm still here. This is my 2nd quit (I was smoke-free for 2-1/2 years up until about a year ago). I'm finding it slightly easier this time - making the decision to quit was the tough part this time, because I knew it had to be FOREVER! I'm using Zyban, as I did the first time, and I'm glad I'm not having the intensity of side effects that I experienced when I first used it. The weekend was a bit of a challenge - I worked at our very busy warehouse sale, in the extreme heat, and there were a lot of triggers and old habits that kept cropping up. But I stayed firm! I do find that my resistance is lower when I am tired. That's the key time for me to be extra-vigilent, and stay away from tempting situations. I feel safe when I get home at night, because there are no temptations. How's everyone else doing? sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 485 Amount Saved: $171 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 23 Seconds: 7

Tooooooot toooooooooot! Coming up to 50 days soon!! All good here! After my little episode last Fri, this is feeling much more solid. I'm getting a sense of what it's like to not be interested in smoking because you know it does nothing for you...like that's starting to get through this thick skull. I don't feel it yet but it's hovering. I know that it's still early days but I'm trying to enjoy this new feeling of a feeling. At first it made me worry that it would cause a slip!? if you know what I mean? Now I realise that I'm allowed to feel good about quitting without it meaning I'll start again and totally embarrass myself. It's all VERY weird, I don't expect anyone to understand my birdbrain reasoning! Still here! Determined2Quit: Like you, I still dread the idea of ever going back to day 1-5, and that's a huge part of why I'm still here, smoke free. I still crave sometimes, but it will never be worth that suffering again, and it will never be worth the social ostracism, the money, the stink, the hypocrisy of my otherwise-almost-too-healthy-lifestyle. Congratulations May Quitters! Hey Chicken Little, your not birdbrained at all. I too have not given myself the okay to feel good and yell to the world that I'm a non-smoker. I guess it's a fear from past failed quits. I am not broadcasting it this time, if someone notices I will tell them, but this time it's my own crusade within myself. Maybe at my 6 month mark the fear will leave and I can really feel relief. Hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say here. Stay strong - stay quit!! Hi everyone, I'm still hanging on!! Was away from my computer this past week, and really missed everyone!! Hope everyone is doing good with their quits. I still want a cig almost everyday, but I can shake those thoughts much quicker now. The thought of going back to day 1 is what keeps me from lighting up as well as my kids finally realized I haven't been smoking and the thought of losing my 8 year old sons respect, would kill me. Glad to be back - reading all your posts really motivates me too!! Really nice to hear from you. The first month was exciting, it needed concentration and somehow the achievement seemed extraordinary....the glitzy shine has worn off for me but things are more solid. I hope our original May line up is still going strong, I am so looking forward to congratulating us all on 100 days. Battling an addiction is an incredibly isolating experience and I value your company. Luck to us all. How do you get to be so wise, Shevie? Wherever it comes from, thanks for sharing it with me, it's encouraging and it makes perfect sense...I've been looking for continuous fanfares and drumrolls when I should have been valuing putting in the foundations. Please be here this time next year to give me another timely kick up the ass!
